Think I found the issue. If you look at the guide for the pull rope (which is where the hose clamp should mount) you'll see it's broken off. No wonder I couldn't find the mounting hole!

I think I'll just mod something that I can slip under that tight *** battery mount strap to lift the hose up a bit. I would normally be a bit concerned the rope may jump out of that slot now without it being secured by the hose clamp, but the good thing is I added electric start this year, so hopefully I won't be tugging on that too much anymore. Thanks for all the research.

One more question while I have your attention. The prior owner tie wrapped the battery cables to the coolant hose to get them out of the way. Does that hose get hot enough to do damage to the cables? If so I'll pull them away.
