I had a vmax that acted like that. I put a different primary clutch on and it was good to go.

Ya know I didn't have this problem before I cleaned carbs and my carbs were full of belt dust p/o never cleaned them. But it run great no problems then I cleaned them and that's when my problem started.
It's hard to start now when cold about 8-9 pulls where before it would take 2-3 pulls cold.
Is it possible that I have something backwards or forgot something?

Might be able to clean the clutches. Seems like they get "sticky" when they sit. The secondary in the vmax is so stiff at the beginning of every season it is almost impossible to get the belt on. It does loosen up after the first good ride though.

I did clean carbs all passages with carb cleaner.
It felt like a touch of bad gas, not wanting to make power. A lot of time was put into cleaning and tuning carbs.

Could the exhaust be partially plugged?

Very possible. My cats chase and eat so many mice.

I need to get a cat. I have been going through poison like crazy and they are still all over. I had one come out of my exhaust when I fired mine up this year along with some of a nest.Drew,
