Going through a couple 2000 Phazers that both have a similar problem. They both bog and won't climb in RPMs in certain conditions. I have ruled the following list out and am looking for input on the clutching and any other ideas.
Ruled Out . . .
Still to be investigated . . .
So here are pictures of the clutch weights . . . (Obviously someone ran continuously at WOT on these machines trying to keep up, hence the groove).

Question is . . . With these lower powered sled (65 hp maybe), do you think this groove could be enough to cause the bog?
Basically after getting back on the throttle after a corner or when boondocking it bogs at around 5500 RPM or so and will not climb above it until you let completely off and then get back into it. Sometimes it takes several attempts which is very annoying when trying to make your way around trees in deep snow.
Both of these sleds are geared down 11% from stock. One has a 144 track, the other a 121 ripsaw.
Let the input begin, please don't hesitate if you think you have something.
Thanks, Ding
Ruled Out . . .
- TORS
- Engine not making power
- Stator
- Ignition coil
Still to be investigated . . .
- Secondary sticking open - cursory glance so far and doesn't look likely
- Primary Clutch Weights have a groove in tip area (see pictures)
- Some drag on the drive train that comes and goes - unlikely but possible
- others added as I go
