2002 SX Viper 700 questions

Hey everyone, yesterday I bought a 2002 SX Viper with the black heads and was wondering about a few things.

The guy said the engine was never touched besides him putting a can on it, and apparently I have to go a notch higher on the middle needle on the carb? Old Viper owner told me this (not the owner of the sled I bought), same model, same year. If I don't, crank goes BOOM! I don't want that to happen, it has 7520km on it.

And I also pulled the pullcord out too much and now it won't go back in. Had it for 1 min and I broke it 🤦‍♂️. The rear end had a redo too by the Yamaha dealer too.

If there's anything else I'd need to do to prevent anything bad happening, let me know, I don't want to go KABOOM! Or break something.

Carb Needle question

I was wanting to change the needle position on 02 viper as to richen her up.. It had clip on #3 position with 2 washers underneath.. I moved the washers with the clip in #3 position to 1 washer on top and 1 on the bottom is this the correct position? Want to make sure as I got a little confused...

I tried the mallet, nothing, not even a budge, gonna try to take it apart tomorrow hopefully

brother had the same sled and up graded around the 10000km mark to his 1st 4 stroke. dad still has the 05 venture with the same engine with about 8500km and counting.

both are awsome handling sleds once we got them set and a few small issues touched up.

That's pretty good, I was hearing from one of my teachers who had the same sled it grenaded itself and you need to make some adjustment on the carb, gonna have to ask again I forgot lol.
 
These don't use much oil, I would set the oil adjustment higher.
These are good engines, but usually the first thing to go when they get higher miles is one of the rod bearings.
Given the mileage, your main nozzles will be showing wear, so your machine will be running richer due to that. No need to change the needle clip at this point.
 
lol just tell him maim on ty has that wheel install tool when he wants to come get it.
