I recently purchased a 1988 (I think) Exciter. My son and I are having trouble getting the sled to start. Spark is good. It appears that it's not getting fuel, so I pulled the carb to give it a thorough cleaning? What is this plug (see pic) on the side of the carburetor? There were no wires going to it when I pulled it out of the sled to clean the carb. I also discovered that the fuel line that runs from the base of the bowl appears to have been plugged with a screw, but apparently that was done because of a power jet issue that these carbs had.

I have one in my VK .. TORS carb switch , also wired to throttle switch and CDI ...
Different companies tried many ways to keep sleds with frozen cable or slides
from running away when starting with no tension on the throttle..
Usually when flooded and you give the last sputtering pull with WOT and
the slide stayed WOT as the sled leaves.
Expect yours was thought to be not working properly so they "fixed" it.
NASA... (need another sled again.) Lucky if you track it down
and it warmed enough to thaw out the slide went back to idle, sitting
upright in a field.
Check the throttle , doesn't feel right ? then it isn't .

Someone will have a better answer about no fuel .
Was the bowl full or empty ? Not getting into card or not sending any
from pump and tank?

Thanks. I actually pulled the other carb (Pardon my ignorance. I didn't realize that it had TWO carbs until it was light out again this morning.) and discovered that it also had nothing connected to that switch. That would seem to confirm the "safety delete."
As far as fuel goes, having examined both carbs and cleaned both out, it sure looks like it might not even be making it to the carbs.

this link should take you to a link with the fuel system..
If you have looked at the enticer thread , I recall t having info about tank filter and cracked
lines and impulse line to crankcase to pump. You could always draw from a fuel can with
a clear line to the pump and see if fuel coming up. You wont need carbs on to try that
and will be able to see better if their feed lines start to put up fuel..
