How can I get the scissor arms off my struts?

The knuckle at the bottom of the strut that holds the ski won't come off. I removed the two pinch bolts and it loose on the strut but come off. It looks as if the strut has a sideways notch at the bottom that coresponds to the bushing in the bottom knuckle and that the only way to "unlock" the knuckle is to remove the bushing. Am I right? If not why won't the bottom knuckle come off?

Looked up the part number on Partzilla and then googled the number. This image shows the notch I suspected was there. It appears imperitive to remove the bottom bushing if I want the kuckle off.
