Hey everyone,

I love my viper but I think I want to uncork a little more out of her. Raced a new doo 600HO rev and he beat me when I had a bad launch! Those things are fast little buggers, especially when I used to doing that to 800's.

Anyhoo I think a set of pipes and new studs will give me what I want. What do you guys reccomend? My sled has a Fix powersports cold air kit which step down the jetting a little but to be honest can't get them to tell me what jets they used. I bought the sled with this on it so I have no idea what they, I just know they are a little fatter. It also has the best clutch kit Fix sells installed (revs to 8800-9000). Again no specs on weights or anything.

What I'm after is bolt on pipes and thats it. Is there a set out there that doesn't require jetting, different clutch work, rear exhanger, head gasket, etc?

I like the SLP because they are supposedly bolt and go, CRP seems to offer personalized cust service, Bender needs a lot of other parts to go along with them.

Help me choose, thanks a lot :rocks: :yam:

I raced a few bone stock 2004 Rev 600 H.O's on thurday night with my triple piped Viper and them sleds are fast for 600's, i could beat them but not by a lot.

I'm running Aaen's pipes.

Knuckles, I think you probably should work on traction and clutching because those Aaen pipes have great bottomend. You should easily beat a 600 rev in any distance.

There are no tripple pipes that are bolt and go. It doesnt take that much (half day) to install the pipes and if you do not want to mess with the clutching and jetting (which is good stuff to know about your sled anyhow) you could drop your sled off at your local shop and have them make the changes for maybe two hours of labor (around $150).

From my research on pipes when I was shopping I found that SLP pipes are the most reliable, quiet, consistant, and with the best fit and finish. Also with the SLP's you do not have to modify the head like with Benders.

I personally run SLP's and everyone I know who has SLP's is very impressed with them. It is like getting a new sled for $850 ($700 for the pipes and $150 for the set up).

We were racing about 1200-1500 ft. and the one stock Rev 600 H.O beat a 03 F7, 04 F7, 03 ProX 600. and a few other sleds. I was the only guy to stay ahead of the REV.

I agree yamaviperGS30, first race i lined up against the 03 Firecat with 1 3/8" studded track hit the throttle out of the hole and i litteraly just sat there and spun. I have a 136" 1/4 ripsaw track and have the suspension set so that i can turn on the trails.

I think the Hauk kit is $1300 last time I checked, includes everything you need except the head mod which they recommend for that set-up. Very fast, from dead stop to 100 mph the stock RX-1 isn't even close, about the same as a stock RX-1 top-end. I rode with a 600 HO and he wasn't even close. I get 8-9 mpg. I have 8000 miles on it and the only problems I have had are a broken motor mount bolt (one bolt backed out), water pump seal, and I blew out the rear shock. Problems are not related to the pipes.

Oh and just remebered I had two harness problems. One was the pipes fault, the other was a short under the mag side, so not pipe related (warranty). The other, the wires on the hood fell down on the pipe. I just took the sticky squares that go with tie straps and fastened them up and have not had a problem since.

So, that is my experience, not exactly recommending them over the others, haven't raced or ridden any other piped vipers to compare.

My 2 cents....I don't know much about the other pipes, but I run the Benders w/out the Head mod and it's very fast, responsive and has great gas mileage. I agree, they could put a better finsh on them, but they work great and are considerably quieter then most silencers. Ak Ryda - why do you say CPR's are the most reliable? Have you run other pipes? Just curious

If you get the SLP's where do you get the jets? Also if I'm currently spinning at 8900 rpms with my clutch kit will it change drastically with the pipes where i would have to modify that as well? Sort of hoping for a easy upgrade but the more i look into it the more i see a rear exhanger, jets, clutch etc. Thanks for the replies

you can get jets from any shop. No matter which pipes you buy for your sled, the company that sells them should help you with getting some jetting and clutching specs to start with.

Send a pm to 'SIMONS CPR' and ask about his pipes.

I have ran one 600HO last year on the lake with my stock Viper. Yes they are fast. He stuck with me all the way up to 100mph, then I could start to pull him ever so slightly on top past the century mark. The farther I held it ,the more I kept creeping further ahead....but no doubt, they are very strong.

thats kind of scary. I haven't raced any of the 600 HOs yet, but i was pretty much figuring that they would be a breeze to take. Guess i better watch out, and make sure everything is tuned perfectly on that day. ;)!

Another vote for SLP's here! Clutch it to run 8700-8800 and you'll be taking on the 8 and some 900's, instead of 600's!

No matter what pipes you install you will need to rejet, reclutch, install a SRX base gasket, and add a rear heat exchanger in my opinion. This is a must for any pipes on the Viper if you want to be safe in all conditions. Also I believe SLP to be the best, but I haven't had a single problem with Bender's either.

Yeah I was very surprised at the speed of those little things. Took me off guard. Thanks for the help everyone, I'll get some SLP's, and then start asking for jet/clutch reccomendations. Thanks!

I am sure in addition to main and pilot jets, there will be needle settings, also available from the pipe suppliers. I would recommned the rear heat exchanger also.

I was wondering wich pipes would be best on my viper because we do some pretty big days and i don't want to be the one who makes everyone stop and extra 3 times because i need gas. :kw

slp's are real nice and quiet as well, and very reliable from what i have heard
