Me and some buddies were riding up by Greenland, MI and stopped at the yammi dealer there. We were suprised to get invited to the back room and see all the new models. They had the Attack, nitro, vector, and the Apex gt proto types waiting for us to sit on. The guy who invited us to take a peek started the Apex and gave us a tour of the remote suspenion.
They also had an 05 turbo charged RX 1 there to. I'm not sure if they are still there, but it was at pats Auto & sports center. Give them a call before you go 906-883-3536.

I love it and i'm a yammi lover, but man that is alot of cash! Especially for something that is a totally new concept. I don't mean to down play the new machines, but theres sooo many new components that I will have to wait a year or so to see how all this pans out. Usually the first year anything is made turns out to be a public test for improvements at the customers expense. look at the track record for the first year of the REV, SRX, Viper, RX! Their not getting my 10,000 to use me as a test dummy. I will let all the high rollers spend the cash to find the bugs. Now, if they offered me a 3 year warranty then I would scratch my head with thought.

I'll have to agree, I bought the 96 v-max xt(proaction longtravel rear,pogo stick front) in 97 they changed the whole chasis. Bought the 98 srx, cranks had to be welded. Bought 04 viper s when they introduced the 05's on the website(mid febuary),I knew the suspension wasn't what i wanted, but im doing everything i can to stay Yami-loyal, and I'm not quite sold on the heveir 4 strokers.Still waitting for that lightweight ditchbanger!!! I definitly can't wait for the feedback on the 06's and the newer rear suspensions!They definitly look more agressive, we'll see!!!! :rockon:

try a heavier 4 stroke, you may like it :) my dads vector is easier to launch than my 03 viper, more tq and weight transfer make it LAUNCH off the moguls. rides and handles better as well :)
 
I love the new sleds. hell, I dont plan on carrying the sled around, I ride it. what do I care if it weighs a tad more :)
 
Those new sleds rock....I have been riding an Apex RTX...it is awesome....I will have it for one more weekend...if you have questions I will try and answer them for you..
 
MR SLED Just one question , can you drop the sled off at my house for the weekend? I'll give you directions, and I promise I'll be nice to it!! :beer:
 
mr sled, want to know your opinions on the rtx vs nytro, i guess i want them both combined into one. does the rtx do this in the way of feeling light and have the big bump capability of the nytro. also is the monoshock as reliable as the nytros rear suspension?

I'm on the fence about trading in my SRX on an RTX.

1) Obviously the RTX suspension is superior - but if I give up my SRX for an RTX how will I like the engine performance? Any idea how it performs acceleration/top speed versus an 00-02 SRX or other big iron?

2) Also - as others stated above I'm worried about first year bugs. Have you seen any that concern you? I guess the counter argument is that although it's a new sled, most of the components are arleady well tested (monoshock, front end similar to Vector, MOST of the 4 cy, 5 valve motor, etc..).

3) How are the removable body panels?

After logging almost 400 miles on the Apex RTX....If you are a ditch banger I mean true ditch banger...the guy that like to ride non groomed high wire lines that have 3 to 4 foot holes....flying mogul to mogul...I would get a Nitro, if you are the kind of guy that want to have some casual mogul mashing or just want to fly over the 1 to 3 footer...the RTX is your baby....I dont know what else to say...
 
The removable body panels are extremely easy to remove and access the oil and clutches....the power is awesome...just pure fun, I dont know what to say it pulls like a freight train but I drove the RTX with no pics and it still pulled hard, I would have to believe studded it will be quick out of the hole...I did not run against any other sleds other then an few RX1s and some well tuned RX1s. I beat them everytime....the 136 tracked guys are the tuff guys to catch because of the traction....but they can be caught and passed as well.. remember my goal was not to race it was to put miles on and give my opinion on things....you wont be unhappy with the power of the new engine ;)! or the ride of any of the new sleds. I can wait for next year :rockon:

I just saw all the new yamaha's again at the WSA snowcross in Lake Geneva, Wis. They had an even better (actually official) display there that involved a whole chasis and motor cut open to see the insides. they also had the freestyle sled on display and alot of other interesting stuff that supports the new models. Very cool stuff.
 
Mr Sled you know how well the SRX pulls hard from standing still and from even 60 MPH, does the new FI 150 feel and compare to the SRX on power delivery?
