i think if you got the pipes from them the clutch kit wouldn't be much over $150. Personally, i wouldn't get the clutch kit from them, i would set it up myself, but most people don't like to mess with clutching.
I have ride with pipes for my viper and i loved the power. But my sled blew up because of the pipes. Have´nt ride any expert x, but i´ve never heard anyone that was dissapointed of it.
The pipes will make a huge difference, but don´t forget to check your jetting. If you have bad luck, it could be really costly.
The next investment i will do is buying a set of ohlins.
I would probably go for the expert x, and buy a clutch kit.

pipes don't blow engines, poor pipe set ups do
SpiderViper: Luckily i only blew up a piston, the cylinder was okey. But i don´t think i dare to put the pipes back on.
My dealer told me about a guy who sent his sled to a well known and respectable tuning company. He spent alot of $$$ for tuning his sled. He only ride it for a couple of miles, then his cylinder blew up. It cost over 10 000 SEK (~1500$) to fix his sled.
So you can´t be sure that your sled don´t need your attention, even if you pay extra money for the installation.

I'm making the same decision as you, right now I'm leaning toward the expert-x, I don't think I'll be able to use the extra power of the pipes in the area that I ride in.

Heimdall thats really unfortunate for the guy i hope that they gace him some of his money back because it was their mistake.
Katahdin I am leaning towards that too right now realy what i am doing is letting these guys who know pretty much everything about the sled, decide for me especially yamaholic22 he seems to know alot. As for the tally it is 5 fot the pipes and 7 for the Expert X

just wanted to add to this....my money would be going to an expert x. I say this because I had an srx600 wich pulls about a 120 horse same as the viper. I never thought I didn't have enough power with srx600 just wanted a better ride. I put about 2200miles on the srx6 so I have a good feeling for the power. Keep in mind I had been with vmax's fours before the srx. I just think that a suspension system is where its at. get the expert x. the money it better spent.

No refund. They don´t give any warranty when they tune the sled.

Oh my god that guy was out almost 20,000 dollars holy cow for that much i would sue them unless he signed some kind of contract.

Hehe no fortunately it wasn´t 20 000 $ But i think altogether, the tuning and the damage on the engine, could have cost him around 20 000 SEK. That would be around 2900$ i think. Still an awful lot of money.
