Is it Worth Putting a Single Pipe on a Viper?

I' am think about putting a single pipe on my viper because i don't have enough money for the three yet. So i was just wondering if it makes any kind of diffrence at all? Also what brand would you recomend Bender? Does anyone know if Hauck makes a pipe I know i had one on my Phazer and that made a huge diffrence, but then again these are two completley diffrent engins. :WayCool:

i have a bender single pipe on my viper, as far as i know they are the only ones that have one. performance, you really won't notice a difference unless you race a bone stock viper, then probably mid range would be the only advantage. i didn't buy mine for performance, just sound and less weight. the bender pipe is about 5-7lbs lighter than stock and alot smaller. it takes slightly longer to get the sled to warm up but it is still pretty quick. i also have the bender canister that goes with it which is a nice addition to the pipe. it sounds awesome which was the only thing i was going for when i bought the 2. it will make you heard, especially the more the can burns out :rockon: installation is easy, just put it on and go, no jetting required. it actually leans the sled out where it should be. my plugs were always more on the darker side before the pipe then after i put it on the plugs were a perfect cocoa color. so my advice would be if you are looking for performance then don't bother but if you want a good sound and less weight then i would recommend it.
 
rx1yama has the same can on his viper (without the pipe) and it sounds good, but that can is the cheapest home made piece of junk i have ever seen. The cuts aren't even ground smooth, just cut from a plasma cutter. Rivets rattle around on it, etc. I know he wouldn't buy a bender again, it does sound good though.
 
I really wasn't going to be looking to get more power just somthing to make it more distinct from the others but how much do they cost (both)? My buddy has a can and he thinks that it actully loses hp but he did it for the sound not the power. Yamahollic, did you friend take it to the dealer and ask if there is somthing worng with it because from when i have had expiriences with bender it hasen't led me wrong? Maybe it was just a fluke. Timebomb does yours sound more like a street bike or a harley? ;)!
 
take a silencer to a dealer? What are they going to tell you? Look at the picture of timebomb's silencer, it is the same way. They don't even grind the plasma cuts smooth, they look homemade.
 
by the time you pay for a new single pipe set up from bender you could buy a set of used pipes off from someone here. if they havent wrecked the sled buying used pipes isnt a bad way to go. let someone else take the intial hit in the wallet, when they upgrade or part out what they dont want/need, there loss is your gain. lots of pipes for vipers for sale on Ty from 350-500, price out the bender set up you'll be stunned. remember bender calls their system 4x4 thats -4 pounds and +4 horsepower (claimed) now bolt on three pipes and you still get a weight reduction and you gain up to 30 hp (claimed). love my slp piped viper strong fast and consistant. ski
 
Wow thats a great idea i should think about that because no one on this site would rip me off thanks Ski. The only thing is, is that some people say that pipes become really finiky and have hiddin costs like head mod and things. :WayCool: :yam: But for 350$ plus 200 lets say for the rest it is still alot less than buying them new.
 
Wow eric, guess you must be one of the lucky ones lol, i'm being told all the time that vipers simply CAN'T be set up to be reliable piped. They may be harder on fuel than a typical yammy triple when piped, but not that bad and they can still be very reliable if set up correctly. People talk a lot of stuff they dont know about :o|
 
my bender stuff holds up fine, i don't have rivets rattling. i think the can looks fine besides no one will see it anyway. the pipe and can ended up to be about 500$ for both. it sounds like a street bike not a harley, lol. very distinct, not the typical "braaap" sound. i just got it for the sound and save some weight, i don't really care for triple pipes.

i love the bender combo, i would recommend it to anyone that wants a very distinct sound. as far as bender quality goes, if mine was like that i would return it. you don't buy a sled with rivets in the panels rattling do ya?
 
thats what I want to put on mine. Headlight covers except a see through blue kinda thing. Exactly like the ones power valve 700 has on his under Viper in the snowmobile section. Have you ever thought of trying a different colour? Yellow and Blue just dont appeal to my when they are together.Blue and Purple would look cool.
