I am using a ran advant.edge roller rooster on a 700. I bought it used and had to replace the bearings. I think the bearings are probably the weak point. They are an open bearing and subject to contamination from belt dust, etc. The performance change was noticable but not as responsive to input power as I thought it should be. I purchased an aftermarket primary cap from Hi Tech Performance. The cap came with a sleeve and oilite bronze bushing that increased the area of the bearing surface the cap bushing slides on. The combination of the roller rooster and the hi tech cap resulted in what feels like a near frictionless transmission.

by a can of spray grease & lube bearings couple of times per season & they will last a long long time.

How do you adjust v-belt deflection with the RR3 roller kit installed?

There are spacers inside the shives that look like engagement shims on the primary but bigger. You add these shives to widen the gap & subtract em to narrow the space. The adjustment bolts & washers on the back of the secondary won,t work after you change over to the new roller.
I was thinking more if you can use the maxx perf belt adjuster kit when the rr3 kit is installed..?

that was the way it was adjusted on the old advant-edge roller secondary. the new r-3 uses the stock bolts & washers. no more splitting the sheaves to adjust belt height. yes you can convert the old style to the new set-up. it is just a big washer that goes between the sheaves.
