anyone out there got any good recomendations on how i can beat up on my buddys f7 i have an 02 yamaha viper with 144 studs and a maximum oerformance cluthc kit. he's got a 03 f7 wit a d and d clutch kit and i thikn he may be doin some motor work not to sure. i was thinknin of triple pipes wit a new head possibly and some pod filters very expensive though. if any one knows of some good tips that may be cheaper let me know i gotta beat this F*** he startin to piss me off runnin his mouth

If he has anything done to his sleds you need more then pipes and a head. There is a 780 big bore kit on here for a very good price. I would start there. F7's run very well. ===SRXSRULE===

ar rules said a big bore.Once you start tuning the f7 it's a whole different sled they come to life.

check out dan the mans big kit over in classifieds, ask he how the f7's did and even f8's. his sled was flying.

my viper stays neck to neck with a modded f-7,can clutching ported. But it only stays neck and neck til about 60-65 mph. In the twistys I'm ahead.

my biggest prob is hookin up off the line if i hook i stay wit him good for a bit then he takes me i just wanna smoke the hell out of him caue he always tellin me yami's are slow junk

wait till it blows, then pass him ;) lighten up your sled a LOT and that would help. full lightweight skid and front end :) good way to start.......

Here's an idea for ya. You need information about both sleds before you do anything.
Get the hp power curve and weight from both sleds first. Then do the math. Try to match the Yami's weight and hp to the f7. I think the f7 is about 140hp. Easy enough to reach, but the weight is going to get a bit pricy. As said above, lightweight skid, front, etc. will get you in the right direction. I would work on the low end seeing how thr f7 is a twin and the viper is a triple. Once you hit your mid, you'll most likely leave him behind. I don't know, Just some thoughts though. I did alot of this stuff to my 00 SX700r plus a few engine mods and I have beat most twins out of the hole. I have never matched up against a f7, though.

I actually did alot of this for the same reason. I couldn't beat my buddies Polaris 700 twin. So I modded until I did. You know what? He still beat me because his sled is stock. I may be faster and quicker, but I have a small fortune invested in a sled that I will never get my money back from and he has a stock sled with better gas milage, etc. He still gives me crap" Yeah, you beat me, but I didn't have to take out a loan to improve my sled"
It was great, though to whip him that first or second time, but to me it wasn't worth it just beat a sled. I enjoy the power of my sled, but you get the point, I'm sure.

Like others have mentioned, I would put your sled on a diet first. You'll definitely need to put more $$$ towards lightweight components, and less towards performance parts. Unfortunately, you're going against the fastest F7 built to date. Those sleds just have an unbelievable power to weight ratio. Good luck!!!

The bad theing about cat is they can get a 1000ft bo and run wideopen on pump fuel all day long and gaine 10-12 just like that and trail ride.

He's talking about the switch from ethonel to reg unleaded gas on the f-7.A heck of a idea.As for hooking up,before i put on my ripsaw. He would kill me out of the hole. And i told him i wasn't hooking up.Well now he believes me,since i hook up great.

yea thata a good idea i was gonna just get some triple pipes and maybe a cold air intake wit a shaved head put me around 160 hp. but ur right i do have to try and get rid of that weight. that stuff is expensive though

and remember that the more power you add, the more traction you will need. unless you have a ripsaw already, the stock power is enough to overwhelm the track. any more power and you will simply spin the track FASTER ;) traction and less wight is the best way to start , imho

how much are them ripsaws runnin anyways, there up ther aint they? i already got 144 studs in the one i got and there all in pretty good shape

I'm not sure how the ripsaw is yet, but I needed to put a few more picks in my sled. I'm running 192 1.075 ss and I spin the hell out of my track. If I hit some real hard pack I just leave ruts for a ways. If you get up there in HP your may need more studs. Of course, this adds more rotating weight. Hopefully the ripsaw will help out in the traction dept. as said. Good luck
