I'm thinking of putting hooks on my srx along with a 1 inch riser. Which do you guys prefer, 90 degree , 45 or non at all?

I prefer 45 degree...
My only problem right now is finding hooks that will fit into a 7/8 aluminum bar. The wall thickness is greater, and I can't seem to find any that will fit...

I have a 90 on my brake side and a 45 on my throttle side. I like this combo. But I do use my 90 on the brake side ALOT more. IMHO, I would suggest short 90 degree hooks.

I have a set that had to be machined down to fit my bars. Few minutes on a lathe and problem solved. Most any machine shop should be able to fix you right up.

I have the 45 then 90 * hooks on my sled. I got em from Port and i had to shave mine down a lot so they would fit into my Pro Tapers

lol, yeah I think I lost some top end and reliability b/c of those grips. Actually they are identical to sportech grips. Yeah, I noticed the front view of the Vipers kinda looks like a snake so I added a set of fangs to finish it off!

looks pretty cool neil, Why the F-cat Grips??? wouln't that Make you're sled perform like crap??lol
I have the 45 and like them, haven't had any 90 so I can't compare.
Thanks for the info guys. PV7, your set up looks great (even w/the ac grips). I think I'll go with the 45s. So what everyone's saying is, I'll have trouble fitting them? They won't just slide in?

Nice
Do you cover your sled when transporting? The reason I ask is with the handguards on is your cover a tighter fit? I have an 01 MM600 with 6" of rise and PowerMadd's loke yours. I've got a nice custom OEM MM cover that dosen't fit very well anymore!! Have you had similar problems?PowerValve-700 said:I have the 45* hooks, I filed them down to the outside diameter of the handle bars and slid on Firecat grips. I also cut 3/4" off each end of the bars so they weren't so wide. Installed a 2" riser and handguards, I'm really liking this setup.

Well I don't trailer my sled but I had a Viper custom cover and it doesn't fit with the hand guards. Its fits with just the hooks and 2" riser though but it's VERY tight. Keep in mind I cut about 3/4" off each end of the bars.

They'll fit in just fine with stock handle bars.
The aftermarket aluminum bars are thicker with the same OD - therefore you need to machine the hooks down a little to get them to fit.
