WADDAYA think about KLOTZ?????

I use it and haven't thought twice about it since I got my SRX. I have found it best to still clean the power valves every 1000 miles or so, but I think I could get away with turning down the oil pump a bit. The sled runs good, and I get over 200 miles to a quart of oil, so why mess with the pump? Overall, I think Klotz is a good oil, and considering that I buy it for under $20 a gallon, why not go with it?

OK Gary I'm sold. Question is how far can a 780 Viper go on a topped off oil tank plus three quarts I can hold under the hood. Our group tours 1000 miles at a time and I'm sure I can't find Klotz on the trail in Quebec. Am I gonna run out before one thousand miles? CPR has me increasing the oil consumption. What do you guys think? How far can I turn back the oil with Klotz. Mac
 
i have always ran klotz in my sleds.clean burning,like the smell,keeps everything fairly clean.i usally have the old lady buy me 3-4 gallons of ti on christmas to last me the year.hint hint
 
I don't know a lot of variables, like driving habits,etc,etc,etc,,,You need to monitor it and see just how much oil you consume!!!! As far as leaning it out of oil,,,, YES, you can turn your oil pump down BUT,,, I do not recommend it!!!!!It's not like you are trying to do 1/4 mile passes and looking for a timeslip.. the "more the merrier" is better than "not enough" oil!!!!! so it costs you a few dollars more,,, SO WHAT??????????? Remember your driving a snowmobile, the probably WORST volumetrically efficient vehicle on the planet!!!!! A VERY EXPENSIVE sport that you can only ride 5 or 6 times a winter (here in Chicago)... Another thing is you have to drive 400 miles to get O.K snow conditions,,, If your looking to save money,,, TAKE UP KNITTING A SCARF and selling them on EBAY!!!!! Gary Oles nosboy
 
Good oil, but if you use Klotz R50 and are premixing it in the winter, make sure to shake the jug a little before you pour it in. The oil & gas will seperate in cold temps.
 
Good Stuff...less Smoke And Stink. 1000 Miles And No Troubles. I May Try Blue Marble Next...i Hear Lots Of Good Things About That Stuff...no Smoke And No Smell, Plus They Are The Only 2 Stroke Oil Manufacture That Can Prove Increased Power Gains With Oil! nosboy, I have been reading your posts and you definetly seem to know your stuff regarding oil!

Where can I pick up Klotz in the Chicagoland area? I live in the southwest suburbs. I just picked up an '02 SRX and want to do all things right by it.

Also, can I run Klotz in a sled after I have been running, say Yamalube, for many seasons in it?

I sell the Klotz snowmobile oil for 22.00 per gallon plus shipping.
I ship all over the states and have also shipped to Canada.
I buy it and sell it for cheap as a side business out of my garage and have been for about 10 years or better. Its like we are all buying it together so we can get a better price. I am just keeping it in my garage and when you need some, I send you some.

Klotz is a good premium oil and I have been using it for years in everything from a 1972 GP433 twin to the SL-338 to the premix SRX and currently the SXR.

Thanks Gary for the fountain of knowledge you spray on us. Remember, some of us are more dense than others, so it takes more spraying for the knowledge to soak in...

I have purchased oil from Rick (KlotzlubeMN) on a few occasions and have been very satisfied with the product and price. When I need a few more gallons, I will surely shop with him again!
 
I think Rick is the way to go... I buy cases of gallons for 110.00 a case,,, BUT I have to drive from Chicago (midway airport area) to either MILWAUKEE or NOVI MICHIGAN!!!! If you can get it for 30.00 a gallon shipped to your door,,, I would JUMP at it!!!!! I have 9 gallons in my garage for the upcoming season,,, but,,, I think I will have to hold on to them because i have 4 sleds!!!! Maybe NEXT YEAR we can get together (guys in Chicagoland area) and buy a DRUM!!!! Im good for 10 gallons!!!!! As far as dumping it on top of Yamalube,,, I DON't do it!!! I have had some monsters growing in my oil tank a LOT OF YEARS AGO from dumping techniplate on top of another oil!!!! AS FAR AS DRAINING THE YAMALUBE OUT and dumping it,,, YES,,,Ill do that... Yamalube is compatible with KLOTZ!!!!! The little bit in the hose won't hurt anything.....The snowmobile oil is OK with YAMALUBE.... As far as changing oil after thousands of miles,,, SYNTHETIC oil ONLY HELPS YOU!!!!! it wont cause anything to break prematurely or any of that NONSENSE that people try and tell you!!!!! it will make your motor LAST LONGER and it SMELLS BETTER THAN YAMALUBE!!!!! along with OTHER things,,,, i would rather give a FEW dollars to the KLOTZ guy than HUNDREDS TO THE YAMAHA DEALER!!!!! They make techniplate snowmobile and also the SUPER TECHNIPLATE..... DO NOT and I repeat DO NOT use the super techniplate UNLESS you know a LOT about race motors and race oil, BECAUSE SUPER TECHNIPLATE is PREMIX ONLY!!!!! YOU CANNOT try and pump it through your injection system unless you are a genious on oil injection.... First of all,SUPER techniplate is probably as hard as a rock at -10deg and wouldn't pump anyway,,, SECOND, it DOES NOT MIX WITH YAMALUBE OR REGULAR KLOTZ (snowmobile oil)... TWO DIFFERENT ANIMALS COMPLETELY..... As far as using SNOWMOBILE TECHNIPLATE in your BRAND NEW SLED,,,,, Its like the old sayings of BRAND NEW MOTOR, BREAK IT IN HARD and on the other hand,,,NICE and easy for the first XXXX MILES!!!!! DIFFERENT GUYS will give you different opinions!!!!!!! MY THEORY IS,,, A brand new motor usng synthetic oil WILL take LONGER to get the rings to seat properly!!!! consdering the bores are a LOT harder surface to break than the rings, The rings will wear out sooner... THAT IS A GOOD THING,, Because rings are cheaper than re nikasil ling the cylinders!!!! Therfore, your motor WILL last longer BUT your motor will take a lot longer to break in!!!!! If you PLAN on taking a BRAND NEW $7000.00 sled and trying to win the LAND SPEED RECORD. DON'T BOTHER WITH USING SYNTHETIC OIL!!!! ITS NOT GOING TO HELP!!!!! BUY YOURSELF A 1000CC HOOPER motor and inject about 100HP of NITROUS and THEN TRY AND BEAT the LAND SPEED RECORD!!!! PERSONALLY, I just got a BRAND NEW 03 VIPER a few days ago (viper#3) and I jacked it up, drilled 144 holes in the track, installed woodys stainless 1.075 traction master studs, installed a REAR heat exchanger and rear protectors, wired the electric face shield wires to the seat wiring and STUCK A 3/8 fuel line in the OIL TANK and SIPHONED out 99% of that NASTY YAMALUBE.... Opened up a FRESH gallon of KLOTZ and FILLED HER UP!!!!! In a few das, ill put a coat of MOTHERS CARNAUBA WAX on her and WAIT FOR SOME VACATION DAYS at work!!!!!!! gary Oles nosboy :nos:
