Well guys... can I beat a Rev 600x ? My buddy just bought one. I want to smoke him. I know my sled has never skipped a beat since it came out of the box. I bought a 54/43 helix and green spring.. going to install it shortly. I have the tourque limiter.. I added 4.5g tip weight to the primary. I have 144 studs. I am in the process of getting the suspension dialed in better. Can I beat him ?

I think you can take him. what track you running?? let me know how that clutch setup works, I am seriously considering it :) want to know the pros and cons :)

you'll beat him no problem. i've raced a couple of those identical sleds. with my sled stock and now with the pipe and heelclickers. 1st one i raced i was stock and he was too. it was a walk in the park. second one had some clutch kit, studs and a can and i had the same. beat that one no problem. i'm not impressed with those 600hos. they are within 1hp of the viper and they don't compare. i'm sure one setup right and modded will run but w/little mods it is no prob.

I noticed a big difference from the tourque limiter and 4.5gram tip weight.. I have yet to get the new helix installed yet.

I still have the stock track.. I know thats the weakest link to my setup. I needs to get a hacksaw sometime soon.

I bet if I posted this same topic on Dootalk. I would get the total opposite response. ;)!

I can't wait to beat him.. He is going to be pissed. ;)!

My Viper runs very strong in stock form. I run HH's for clutching, a 1.25" 9818 Camo and have the TPI's. I had a chance to run one of those 2003 600HO's on Lake Gogebic, MI. 2 years ago. Now keep in mind I am around 205lbs. unclothed and the Doo rider was 140lbs soaking wet. He hung side by side with me to 80-85mph, then I walked away. Regardless I thought the Doo ran pretty strong. (eats gas like a pig though). BTW, I tried the green sec. spring w/ 53/43 and it ran terrible on my sled. I have yet to find a multi-angle helix that works good all around in the Viper. Believe me ,if you try the Heavy Hitters, you'll never look back. Set 'em up and go!!

Timebomb: is that triple pipes or single pipe you have??? Just curious about anyone running a Bender single.

PS: I just did a cold motor w/ throttle open compression test on my Viper two days ago. Starting at the PTO side it was 127-142-144, my Dad's is a hair stronger at 130-142-144. I know there are some Vipers out there with less.

NB-Viper,

Where did you pick up your helix and spring?

bender 4x4 single pipe, i love it. probably overall about a 4hp increase, but i also run a bender qst canister. so i'm not sure exactly the hp gain. i would like to put it on a dyno some day and see.

I bought it used off here. I hope it I can get it work for me. I guess some guys can get it work good. Some guys can't. I wonder why the difference ?

Thanks timebomb....I wouldn't mind trying the single into a stock can.

NB-Viper, I know not all Vipers run equal. Some have lower compression numbers than others. Maybe that explains why some have a hard time beating 600 twins, while others run hard against 800 twins. I'd say mine is the latter. My Dad and I both run HH's and are very happy with them. I tried the 53/43 set up and several of Hauck's setups with no success. With the HH's you run the stock helix being the shift curve of the primary arms are very aggressive. I like that because a straight helix backshifts so much better in the trails. I had some lengthy discussions about this a few yrs. ago with Jeff @ Simons CPR. He felt the same as I did about the helix issue. He was the one that got me to run the HH's and guarenteed my satisfaction and he was right. On mine(or my Dad's) I just couldn't get the stock wts. to work without overrevving. It was fine until I had a few hundred miles on it. Once it started breaking in, the rpm's just kept creeping up. (hence more power)

Why is that helix recommended if no one can get it to work ? Has anyone on here had it work for them ?

Don't get the point. Hardy worth bragging about a 7 beating a 6. Like beating on your little brother! :)

Well that is Turks setup. He claims it works. I tried it on our two Vipers with no luck. Seriously I don't think there was alot of testing going on for this issue and as I said, no two sleds are the same. It seems everyone went for pipes if they wanted more performance on the Vipers. Actually Yamaha's setup was good from the factory other than many overrevved, as did mine.

oh yes, but some times the little guys need to get put back in their place!

That's great if you win; but aweful embarassing if you lose!

Never run against anyone with a smaller engine. You never win. If you beat him ( or even worse she ) he'll just say " what'd ya expect, you got a 7 and I got a 6"
or whatever the difference is. And if you lose, well ...............

It's like 40lbs lighter then mine and I have maybe 2hp on him. By right he should be faster.. I don't know if I am going to bother installing the Helix and spring.
