BR9ES plugs in SRX?

what does everyone think of using a BR9ES plug instead of a BR9ECS plug? Also, I might run a BR10ES plug if people think it will run too hot. Let me know what you think!
 
no, im not worried so much about cost, as i am availability. the dealer here has to order them, and they are a yamaha, honda dealer. waht a crock of shit! thats why i wondered, as all teh auto parts stores carry es, not ecs. More opinions please!
 
run the BR9ES's. my father runs them in his SRX, and as mentioned above, just make sure you warm the engine good. no sense in waisting that kinda money for spark plugs if these work just as well.
 
ES's under the right conditions will cost you engine parts...if you could run ES's they'd be in there in the first place. Run ECS's...especially if you, say, have a cut head.

Lol... can you be more specific? I ran the ES's all last year out on the lake with 0 problems... what's involved? Temp? Altitude? Speed? Pressure?
 
Long wide open pulls. That plug is designed for that engine and vice versa...It's a risk that isn't worth the minor savings.
 
I have seen SRX,s go down running ES plugs...mine included. Run at least a 9ecs plug ; specially on cold days on long pulls. Woth it to spend $5 to save $300+ down the road!

AGREED! 6 bucks more at the most now, or several hundred more down the road? I know my choice...
 
i SAY RUN THE BR9ES. AN UNCLE OF MINE HAS OWNED YAMAHA FOR THE PAST 15 YEARS OR SO TOLD ME HE HAS NEVER HAD ONE PROBLEM WITH RUNNING THE BR9ES. IVE RUN THEM IN ALL MY SLEDS WITH OUT PROBLEM.
 
ok, this thread sounds a little funny....

Let say you bought a new corvette or something....the vette comes stock with a certain plug......Would you risk the engine by f'in around with plugs that aren't designed for it??? Obviously NO! So, that being said, if Yamaha's come stock with BR9ECS's, then put in 9ECS's.....

Also, as mentioned above...if you're willing to risk yer motor to save 10-20 bucks....Don't come a cry'n when you cook the engine!

ES plugs have caused known engine failures. If you ride in the cold and enjoy driving your sled home under its own power, then spend the extra 2$ on ECS plugs. Yamaha recommends it for a reason. I dont care if every "mechanic" that has been working on Yamaha's for the last 20 years tells me to just use ES plugs, Im sticking with the recommendation of Yamaha's engineers.

P.S. I cant belive people still post this question.
 
Also, BR9ES's are NOT a problem in other yamaha sleds, that is what is recommended for all other newer yammy two strokes, but for the srx BR9ECS is recommended. Not the same engine as the others, not the same recommended plugs.
