I was wondering if a 02 viper should crank over easier than my previous 01 SXR 700. The viper after being run awhile seems to start alittle hard, meaning it needs alittle throttle to start. I have heard that the vipers run hot and possibley this is the problem. The viper has had triple pipes on it before i owned it and is now a single pipe with 3,900 miles. If anyone has any info on whether it should be re-ringed or not let me know. Thanks Alot.

Every viper I have ever seen needs the throttle cracked just a bit to restart when warm. Mine does, and so did my 700 sx. Maxdlx

Mine too. Crack the throttle and she fires right up. Normal for Yamaha trip's.

Yes ,you do need to crack the throttle on a warm engine about 1/4 to 3/8". As for compression. Well this part I know has varied on many Vipers. I believe this is the difference between the strong runners and the so/so runners. For reference my father and mine both run strong. In fact I am running over 63 grams in my Heavy Hitters which it pulls very good. Our compression runs 128-130/142-144/142-144 starting at the clutch side first.
