Hi guys, got invited to a private radar run this weekend but i think the APEX guys invited me so thay can chew me up and spit me out. maby i braged to mutch about SRX's I own a few of them and i love them. I am going to bring my 01 it runs the strongest it has 900 miles on it has bender cluching wheel kit 144 studs mbrp can. engine is all stock.I know the apex i will run against is all stock with 200 miles on it but dose have 196 studs. thay want to run 1/4 and 1/2 mile. GUYS WHATS GANA HAPPEN!

depends on how well the bender clutch kit works......................

if you have the stock weights(8dn-20's), 4.5 rivets in both holes, a white/white/white yamaha spring if your over 170lbs, or a yellow/silver/yellow yamaha spring(under 170lbs), 51/43 helix and a green secondary will get the job done, very strong running set up.

BTW_ put the stock exh can back on!!

Depends on how strong his SRX really is. I won't race my SRX and Apex untill my Apex is studded, but my Apex definately doesn't have the "nosebleed sick to my stomach" feel that my ported SRX has. Tough call, race to find out.

Mine isn't. Not noticeably faster than my srx anyways. Like I said my SRX is ported though and it may not be fair to compare. I love the sled but expected a bit more out of it. It'll definately take my 05 RX-1 though.

I guess I might say the clutch set up below will handle a 05 rx1 pretty easy, and the 05 rx1 runs alot better then a 03-04 does. Thats also assuming you have a good suspension set up and its transferring some weight on take off. I have yet to race or even ride a apex, so I can only go off of what I have tuned against.

don i wrote you a pm on some motor work the other night & you havnt returned the pm.are you intrested??

if your gearing is stock you do not have enough gear for a 1/2 mile run. 1/2 mi. you will get beat. at max o.d. you are geared for 116 mph. apex is geared for 124 mph. unless you want to change gears make it between 1/4 mi. & 2000' max. if you really want to make them look stupid pm me & i will give you specific & simple things to do. it won't even be close. can't list here - they're probably listening.

ejcamaro, wait until that sucker is broke in! the 4 strokes really get faster after some miles, and the one I tried last spring was insanely fast. although I have never ridden a ported srx :)

I talked to a guy who said an Apex gave his F7 a good beating. I'm not sure what to believe on that one. The F7 guy likes to keep things well tuned also. If most of this is true it's gonna cost me 10 grand, I hate it when that happens!!!

I hope so!!

I have about 300 miles on the Apex now, so it should start coming around. I feel terrible that I don't have studs in it yet. I am kinda waiting to see how many people are having problems with the studs/track hitting the shock. Either way its a blast to ride, love the feel. Finally a Yamaha with good factory bars!!! :2strokes: :4STroke:

the apex is retarded fast....one of my customers took his out, and in the 700 improve, he was eatin 'em alive....the closest race he's had so far was a mach Z 1000, and even there...on nice hard pack, apex was doin 117mph, and machZ was doin 108...same studs and same line...so i dunno man

look at the latest shootout in the amsnow mag. the apex did fantastic there

get a grip. the apex is not the second coming of christ. it's a 600+ lb. sled with 150 hp. it is absolutly not any of the above.
the apex runs decent from the factory for a big tank. the suspension handles the bumps nicely - but the rider sits waaay to high off the ground & it corners like crap unless you pull it down to the ground which then defeats the purpose of the suspension which in turn compromises the ride.
a trail ported srx has around 10 hp more than the apex & weighs about 60 lbs. less. speed & acceleration are about efficiancy - hp - weight. you do the math.

maybe...but the torque pull on the 4stroke is greater then that of a 2 stroke...out of the hole(which is usually what wins a race) is alot stronger on the apex then any 2stroke sled...sure the srx might catch up, but it'll take a helluva long stretch

and on the trails it will pull harder out of the corners. bob, have you ridden an apex yet? not bashing or anything just wonder. it has a faster feel than what may be expected

2001bluesxr: the thread is about radar running - not drag racing. also, if your theory is correct than how come the apex/rx1 can't compete in ISR 700 stock class?? further, it can't win in 600 stock class??
03viperguy: have ridden both well set up rx1's & apex's. not impressed. "fast feel" does not mean you're going fast. apex is a decent sled but nothing special.

Apples to oranges. I'd have to stud the Apex and put em to the gun to know for sure, but as of right now my Apex does not feel as fast as my ported SRX. This is coming right off of one and on to the other. I wish I could say it was the other way around and maybe after another couple hundred miles it will come around. Now if I clutched the Apex and spent all the money I spent on the SRX I'm sure it would be different. I am by no means bashing the Apex, its one hell of a sled.
