TROUBLE hope apex won't chew me up

What's with all this yamaha vs. yamaha racing? Why don't you invite some cats to the radar run and shit on them? It only seems right. How many more years is the srx going to be the benchmark for what a real fast sled is, I love it!

Well here is my experience this year i have a 1999 SRX bender clutches, cold air intake, bender can, transfer rods, and 192 picks and i ran once down the track and got 110.9 MPH the new Apex was 117MPH so i think the ported SRX will be close or gearing will get you ahead ;)!

while it was and is a nice sled, it wasnt really selling. people wanted travel (how many people long travel them?) and longer travel makes them not as quick or fast. thats how I see it at least. not that I dont want one ;)

I guess thats how the vipe was born, I still would rather have a srx
over a vipe ;)!

I'm gonna go with the SRX, because everyone I know is always saying this & that and that about diffrent sleds. I was on a 99 Mach Z last weekend and it felt like it had more power, untill were raced and I beat him about 5 lengths. I think the Apex is a great looking sled, but for 6 years old my sled still beats them all. Yamaha should be racing doo, cat, pol not each other, we should show them that :yam:

I raced my friend's Apex er this past weekend and did pretty well. One end was hard pack and ice. I got the holeshot and kept 3 sled lengths in front. I have more studs. The other end was about 8-10" of snow with a crust and well..... it was just the opposite. I thought I was going to get toasted really bad but did ok. Give that Apex time to break in and it wil rock! :yam:

in reality, just because a sled is old really means nothing. we would all get toasted in a short run against a sno-twister. and the old srx's with leaf springs can be insanely fast in a short run. old tends to mean nothing. newer just means it has more options and is a better finished and polished sled, for the most part

Just to point something out here. 4 stokes do take longer to break in 300 miles on it and it probily not even close to where it could be. Compare 4 stroke to 4 stroke for break in and your average car takes 5000 to 10000km to break in. Apex revs higher so maybe a lot less than that but 300miles? No way it is broke in yet.

I agree with everyone else SRX is nuts fast. But maybe the Apex is too??

I know that not all sleds are created equal. If they were my viper would have blown up a long time ago. I mean geeze the damn dealer had the air box boot half covering the pto cylinder for 1000km and the damn thing still didn't fry. (103mph gps)

So hey you want to know race, but it would be better to go kit some artic crap :Moon: .

remind me to never go there....lol

The apex will pull unmeasureable length on a srx i dont care what any one says. They will belive me when they see it happen to them. Also Buffalo BOB the apex is also better because it is a instant 150 hp due to the efi...

Is that a fact?

Your SRX isn't running right, If your jetting/clutching is correct, You can just tap the throttle and lift the skis!!!!!!! Stock for Stock, it's going to be very, very close. Generally who has the best setup for the conditions, M2C.

that srx is going to need traction. i love the srx's but i hear that apex is fast.but they didnt impress me on the grass though & im guessing it wasnt broken it yet though.

Anybody know how much more power an apex has compared to an 04 RX? Just wondering cause I know smoking a 04 RX across the lake, is not a problem when I had my CPR pipes/gears in my viper.

it may only have the 5 hp more peak, but it is a lot more in the midrange. I will look at the dynotech info later and let you know, they did a comparo :)

I WON,T REPONED TO THIS BECAUSE I HAVE NO RESULTS. I REALIZE YOU GUYS ARE TALKING RADER AND SPEED RUNS. RIGHT NOW WERE IN A VERY MILD WINTER HERE AND I CAN,T GET ON OUR 1/2 MILE STRIP. WHEN I CAN, I AM SHURE TO RACE MANY APPEX WITH MY 2002 SRX. NOW I DID RACE A APPEX ON THE GRASS THIS PAST FALL IN 500 F.T. WITH MY 95 VMAX 4 800. APPEX WAS NO WHERE TO BE SEEN. I DO BELIEVE SET-UP WAS A HUGE FACTOR HERE THOUGH. GOT TO WAIT AND SEE!! 3:16 (tony)

Yea, those mag articles are B.S. They always pump up the new sleds like they are some sort of modern marvels, then next year they will say they really could have used some improvements!!! I don't even read that crap anymore cause it's always pee's me off. When the RX came out the mags said it could do 124 MPH, and was tearing up the tracks from the power output, not true!!!!!! Which sleds don't they like? usually they only say something bad about the hand warmers or dumb $hit like that. CAN you say KICKBACK money? I especially liked it when they said "The new twins increased torque make them the fastest thing on the trail, and not to be taken lightly when you pull out on the lake." Yea right my 1998 polaris XC700 couldn't even come close to an SRX600!!!!!!! B.S. pure and simple.
