98srx

james you are right a srx with stock clutching sucks and they aren't fast with stock cluthching .follow one of turks set ups or talk to him directly. he is very knowledgeable about clutchs.a good clutch kit makes a world of difference.also line up your motor and clutches with the alignment tools.it will definetly help in putting the power to the ground.don't mess with the pipes or you will lose power.factory pipes are best same with the exhaust can.you only change that for sound and weight but you will lose a couple of hp by changing it.run around a 192 studs for traction and change out stock track.it is not tall enough run a 1 inch track.next is adjustable transfer rods run maximum rods then you can long travel it later without any problems.one big reason stock srx's aren't fast is to much track spin studs, rods, and better track help eliminate that problem.the big thing donot mash the throttle roll it on instead mashing it equalls track spin which means you go slow.srx's are fast they just basicly need clutching and traction then you will be amased at how fast of a sled they are with basicly a stock motor.hope this helps
also you have not come on to strong on this site there are deffinatly some people low on the brain meter on this site you know as you have seen the responses to my ad for the apex gt i am trying to sell.you just cann't listen to those idiots.forget about them.the site has a lot of good info especally the tech section .after a while you will figure out who knows what they are talking about and which ones are full of fecal matter.good luck

also run a 8dn for a belt aftermarket belts on a srx blow up quite easally and cause it to lose speed factory yamaha rules

Just my 2 cents, I don't have any problems hooking up the stock track, I run 168 studs and I launch even with my buddys apex with ripsaw and 144 studs, on hardpack there is nothing wrong with the stock yoko, soft stuff they suck, just pick and choose what surface you race on.

2-3" of fresh powdwer on the trail 30 miles to work.

Now here's what my RPMs do. The primary seems to engage at about 3800. (It does have the stock G/G/G spring) If you really ease into it, you feel it grab at about 4100. When you pin it, it jumps right to 8900-9000 and stays there until you let up. It doesn't matter when you pin it or for how long, it stays right there. I took it up to 100 once and it didn't feel like there was much left. If you back off and try to hold it around 8000 it runs at 70 mph. As far as the secondary goes, I can't see any paint marks on the spring. (It's black) and it's end is in the hole next to the 6 on the Helix. The belt sits about 1/16 or so above the sheave.
Upon closer inspection, I see it has a G/S/G primary and 8dn00 weights. Still can't see any marks on the secondary spring but the helix is an 8bv70 Tushima
Thanks for any help with this. I'm just learning  700
