I've done the silencer mod, the airbox mod, and the reed notch. Now i'm bogging off idle and backfiring. Which, from reading other posts is because I need to get bigger jets. So what size do I need to go to? She's a 2001 SX700R. Nothing else has been done to it. Thanks.

Bigger pilots and/or smaller air jets will usually fix it. I'd try a .7 air jet instead of the 1.0 that's probably in there.

I wouldnt go chainging air jets etc. This machine can rock without all of that poke & hope stuff. The reeds and can mod wont effect the jetting. I would try a stock airbox, and be sure carbs are clean and set up for the elevation/temp.

If you are jetted correctly, then with the mods listed the airbox mod is likely the problem. Some sleds will lean bog when you snap the throttle open. Roll into it easy and it will work fine. If this is the case, you can tape the hole you drilled shut and see how it works. Like I said before its not that difficult to tune, but doesn't make a big diff in the performance at lower elevations. The higher you go, the better the airbox mod works.

It ran perfect before the mods. I taped the holes up and it still bogs. It does fine if I choke it a second before snapping the throttles, indicating a lean. Rolls into throttle fine. The only thing is is that it seems a bit smokier, but that could just be me. Tomarrow I'll check and make sure i'm not leaking around the reeds... and i'll check all my vacuum lines once again.

If you think its smokier, check to make sure you didn't pull the oil cable apart when you were taking the airbox in and out.

What are your pilot screws set at (1 1/2 is stock)? I had to turn mine out to 1 7/8 to cure simular problems with mine. I had made several of the small mods as you(except air box mod). Soc 
Yep. unless you have the remote adjusters added on. Here's an idea: Go to Bob's website at www.madmaxperformance.com shoot him an email and see what direction he points you. He is usually willing to help out a fellow yamaha rider, and his advice is retty much bang on.
