Hey guys,
I currently ride a 91 Phazer II, but the next sled I'd like to get is a 2000/2001 model SRX. I absolutly love the look of this sled! I've heard people call it a SRX and a SXR. What's the difference, or do people just have it mixed up? I like the fact that the tripple tripple was one of the fastest sleds out there. Great styling and can't go wrong with the Yamaha BLUE! By the time I'm ready to buy, I'll look at those sleds, or possibly a used 4 stroke. I wouldn't go to the 150, more like the 120. How would an SRX fair against a 120 4-stroke?

Thanks,
Adam.

it really depends on your riding style. The SRX has short travel suspension and is not good in the loose deeper snow. The SRX on the lakes will fly.
The SXR is a long travel sled with plenty of room for mods. Good clutching, reed spacers, thin head gasket and the SXR will be awsome in the trails.

are you a trail rider, or lake racer. thats the difference between the two sleds. srx is great midweek trail sled, no bumps so the short travel and more weight wont matter. the sxr isnt as fast, but is a fantastic trail sled. more travel and less weight for better trail manners. consider a viper as well. few updates over the sxr, and a bit more power. any and all will feel insanely fast coming froma phazer!

Wow, you guys sure know alot about these sleds.
I do mostly trail riding in Distric 10 OFSC. To get to the trails I blaze across my lake, and there are several lake crossings in my area as well. So, I mostly ride groomed trails, but I love the lake runs and high speeds. My Phazer is pretty quick for an old sled, don't get me wrong. However, I find that I'm pinned alot of the time.
One of you guys mentioned a Viper... is that much better than the SRX? I know you can get a nicely used SRX for 4 or 5 thousand which sounds pretty good to me.

the viper is an update on the sxr. it is a long travel trail sled. it also has the powervalves like the srx, so the low end grunt is a lot better than the sxr. otherwise, it is a cool looking sxr. here is mine, with a low windshield and yamaha skis on it.

you can see it also has a better gauge package than the sxr. but that is no dig on the sxr, it is also a very nice sled!

Wow awesome looking sleds.
Looks like I've got some work to do before I decide what to go with next!
I love seeing Yamaha's out on the trails, I see far too many of the same Doo after Doo.
Thanks for the info.
