I studded my stock predator on my 03 Vipe, and am not caring for it that much - it hooks up, but it's not what I thought it would be - so, I will be replacing with either a hacksaw or a ripsaw.
I have heard I have to change the drivers for the Ripsaw, so i am leaning towards the hacksaw.
good or bad? Fully clipped or every other okay?

I put a Ripsaw on my 02SRX, and I have minimal miles on yet due to ongoing crank problems, which are hopefully corrected now, but it hooks awesome. I did not have to change drivers, not sure on Viper. It is a "noisy" track however. Seems good in loose and hard packed, but again I don't have a lot of miles with it yet.

Ripsaw and Hacksaw are good tracks... they are all miles ahead of the stock tracks. However I feel that the 1.25" six pitch predator has to be one of the best tracks out there... even more so than a ripsaw or hacksaw. Even though it's not apples to apples, my '99 sx 600 has the predator on it and it will take off much quicker than my dad's 04 warrior with the ripsaw. You can feel the difference, it's not like his power isn't there, just the ripsaw is holding him back.
I will tell you just like many others who have run both tracks that the ripsaw is good on hardpack, but the six pitch still tops it both on And especially off trail.
If you are looking for a better review... take a look at this link: Many experienced and knowledgable people will tell you the same.

Get an aggressive one inch track with 144 studs up the middle. You wont loose as much speed and it wont wear out as fast as a ripsaw track !

I picked up a 1.25 fully clipped Ripsaw for my 02 SRX. This was my first full season with it and I loved it. 95% of my riding is on hard packed trails in the UP. I know you need to change your drivers if you want to stud it on a SRX. Delivered to my door off of e-bay for $345.00.

Had the Ripsaw on my '02 Viper last year unstudded. Hooked real good on the trail as long as it was not real icy. Did show some signs of early wear on the lugs. I think a combination of the lugs being softer and longer. Noticed more noise than the stock track. I never liked studs because of the wear they have on concrete and trailer floors, but safety around corners changed my mind. Installed a 1'' hacksaw predrilled for 144 studs. Put in 144 studs, all down the middle. ( you can also put in 96 down the middle if you prefer). Track works good in all trail conditions, I ride mostly groomed trails. Lots of room for studs with the 1'' hacksaw, no loss in top speed, no noticable track noise, no need for 8 tooth drivers or gear changes, nice track for a Viper IMO.

Personally I would recommend the 9830 and I do to almost all of our customers looking for a new track for the SRX or viper.
As for the track configuration there are several benefits to both of them.
Fully Clipped: This configuration is going to be on average 2-3 pound heavy then a clipped every third. This configuration is slightly better when coming to rolling resistance. Also, if you intend on running extrovert drives, only fully clipped will allow you to do this. This configuration is also slightly better when it comes to hyfax.
Everythird: This configuration is going to be ~ 2-3 pounds lighter then fully clipped. This track on average will also be about $15 less expensive. Will have slightly more rolling resistance.

What exactly is the difference between the ripsaw and hacksaw tracks?? What is the reason for needing different drivers?? What would be a good choice track with no studs on a 2001 vmax.

Dude, I put an 1 1/4" Camoplast Ripsaw on my 04 Viper.....trust me, best move you'll ever make....haven't had a problem with it.....2000 miles later, the ripsaw gives you awsome control on the groomed trail and tears the $hit out of the powder....trust me

Ripsaws and hacksaws are great tracks, don't get me wrong because I have tried just about every track there is out there, however, if you have never tried the 9830 sixpitch 1" track, you wouldn't know that it is probably the best track their is out there. I have run them all, the ripsaw does very well in hardpack but just digs a hole when you get in powder. Also, the ripsaw is known for taking a lot of MPH off your topend. The hacksaw is also a very good track and hooks up extremely well on hardpack but has the same problem as the ripsaw in the powder. The sixpitch design's advantage is it is capable of getting out of the hole as well as a ripsaw or sixpitch but it doesn't shave off the top speed MPH and it does better in the powder because the design of the track. We have raced all three of these tracks together at the same time and the sixpitch always comes out on top. Not to mention that the Sixpitch is the least expensive. Personally, I don;t think you can go wrong getting either of these three tracks, but, We have found the best performing one to be none other then the sixpitch.
BTW, the difference between the hacksaw and ripsaw is that the ripsaw comes in both 1.25" lug and 1.5" lug and the hacksaw comes in a 1" lug. Also the profile of these tracks are slightly different but they are based on the same design.
Let me know if you have any other questions and I will be glad to help you out.

I have the 9830 with 192 studs and NO problems hooking up or going through deep powder, I compare to my dads ripsaw on the vector and I like the 9830 much better.

As a few of you know i thought of studding my ripsaw, but after a few rides i decided not to, i rode it and decided to adapt to my riding styles... without studs it was easier to skid into corners and get good acceleration out of them, i've always ridden studded sleds, and the ripsaw is a awsome track unstuded... and cheaper too!!!

Cheaper then what?
Most tracks around these days are so good that it is not really necessary to stud them. They all hook up awsome.

What is the reason for needing new drivers on vipers. Will I need to worry about that with my vmax?? Also what company is it that makes the 9830 sixpitch 1" track??

when i said cheaper, i meant you don't have to buy studs, there alot of money, and it isn't neccasry to buy them if the track goes awsome w/o out them...

I slapped a ripsaw on the 03 viper this year. probably the best $$ spent on it. faster, better in the corners, and since I ride on trail it is perfect for me. I have NO signs of track wear, still looks new. think that has a lot to do with the conditions and on-trail riding I didnt remove and protectors or change drivers

Blue blooded, I understand now, I thought you ment the ripsaw was cheaper then the 9830.
The 9830 and ripsaw and hacksaw and all of the tracks we have been mentioning are made by camoplast. We sell these tracks too.

have about 500 miles on the 1.25 ripsaw, which replaced my stock yoko.(9000 miles)
Makes my 02 viper alot more fun to ride. wish the stock track wore out sooner.
can pull the skis up on most small risses/moguls which can actually improve ride.left in stock drivers so no studs....haven't missed them yet.
bought from tracks usa...$325.+ $15.00 shp. same day
It IS noisier, but not too bad.
YOU WILL HAVE TO GO WITH A 1" IF YOU WANT TO STUD and not change drivers.

I have a vmax. I do not want studs. Is it better to go with 1" or 1.25"? Do I need to worry about drivers??
