Drop Brackets, MaxDlx?

well i got the brackets out of my sled because im going to Paint my tunnel and i was thinkin about your skidoo, for somereasn it just came into my head. so i was wondering about drilling 2 holes Equally for each drop bracket to kinda give that Big look. i've came close from hitting my bulkhead from stumps/rocks and other stuff and im just wondering if it takes alot of Work to do what you have done to your Rear susp. and is it possible to raise the front like that? by the way this is a Mountain viper.
 
drop brackets will not raise your suspension up front by the bulkhead. it raises it in the rear. you move the center and rear mounts only. the center gets moved less than half of what the rear gets moved. and when moving the rear mounts a little goes a long way. 1" at the mount is over 3" at the bumper. they also need to be moved slightly forward when you do it or else it will bind. you can raise the front with strait rate springs with a good amount of preload. if you are sure you can measure VERY accurately and want to go through with it, maxdlx and i can walk you through the process.
 
hm i think i will go threw it, is it alot of work? I would Deftinly Try to raise it a few inches, just for the cleance of Hidden Objects in the snow. If you could help me it would be great! thanks.
 
You can raise the front to compensate for the rear with some old sx style shock mounts. You will need to drill and tap a hole in the front bulh head frame. I am going to try it with mine. I am thinking my Viper will be a ditch/deep snow sled, and get a 4 banger for trail ridding. Maxdlx
 
does yours have the newer mountain suspension (2 sets of holes) or the proaction (3 sets of mounting holes) based one? how much taller at the rear bumper do you want it?
 
N2Iroc - It has the 2 Holes. Im lookin to get alot of height, but if i can get that Adapter from CbPerformance, Like kinger says in that post. all i need then would be the sx style shock mounts. well Couple Inches at least. alot of stumps and rocks get coverd by the powder and i usully hit it. Thank god for a skid plate, omost came close to writing off the bulk-head. so i dont want to take any chances.

Kinger- Does CB Performance Sell different sizes in Drop Brackets? also, Where can i get a sx shock mounts to go with the increase in inches from the rear?
 
well since you have the new suspension its a lot easier to drop. just keep the same distance as you have now between the front and rear bolts and your all set. like i said before, dont get greedy with the amount. you cant move the front mount and i would suggest 1.5" at the rear mount. it will add a lot of height (im guessing 4") but if you go too high it will trench bad because the front of the track isnt carrying any of the weight. to actually make the measurements i would use a nice solid steel ruler and make it into a big protractor. drill a 10mm hole in the front end of it, put a suspension bolt through it and the front mounting hole, line it up with the stock rear hole, mark it and drill a hole there too. now swing it down to the desired height and use the rear hole in the ruler as a template for the new one. use a sharp center punch and start with a small drill bit and work your way up. any more questions feel free to ask. its hard to explain stuff over the internet, but ill try.
 
I beleive you still have to drill all the holes in the bracket you would buy from CB
and mark and drill the center holes? I am thinking of doing this to my sled also, but
want to go to a @144 x 16 x 2" track first
 
p.m. returned. trying to explain stuff like this is tough over a computer. it would be a lot easier if you could see my arms flailing in front of a sled!
 
Did you guys clear this up? I'm wanting to add 3"-4" at the rear bumper and I have the proaction 3 mount design. I'm almost ready to pull her out of storage and get to work, lots of projects this year for the vip!
 
Kinger, the way N2Oiroc explains it is the way to do it. I wish I would have had that idea when I did mine. You have to keep the holes an exact distance apart, or it will bind the travel. Maxdlx

you got that right with the binding. mine was originally off less than 3/16" and it was binding bad! good thing i was off on the drop bracket holes and not the tunnel.

if you can decipher my previous post that way works great. what length is your sled?
