Hey Guysss.
I have owned a 700 Vmax SX, converted to a Venture long track skid, since 01. When I first got it, our service manager at the store gave me a tip to make my already wicked sounding sled sound even better. This mod is foolproof and completely harmless, but gives the sound of your sled the extra umpf without losing any horsepower or getting way too loud, or even costing you any money!
Steps.
1:Remove exhaust springs.
2:Pull can out of sled, set on a clean work bench.
3:Rotate can so the exit port is facing upward.
4:Get a long steel punch with a fairly sharp end, a bout 1/4 inch in diameter and a rubber mallet.
5:If you have access to a flash light, shine one through the can. There should be a circular baffle a little ways down.
6.Using the punch, create about 6 holes along the very outside of the circular baffle, more or less depending on your ambition
7:And happy trailing with your new sounding triple, it should give you sort of a rumbling, echoing sound to your exhaust
If youre having doubts, dont try this. A can can be a very expensive peice to replace due to a silly mistake!

Mack

Yes sir, ive never been a fan of aftermarket exhausts/cans, sound gutless and are super hard on your engine.

Is this similar to the the can mod? I drilled a 2" hole in the silencer on mine.

hey
so, you just drills the 6 holes in the circle baffe, if it possible if you can post a pic up of what you have done? thanks

This is from the tech pages - tells you how to do it there. I have one I'll sell you that's drilled already if you like. They are a little loud, not too bad, and stock cans are getting hard to come by. That way if you don't like it you can put the stock can back on it.

I should clarify something. Perhaps the title is a little missleading, the mod isnt the exhaust at all, its the can. We havent experimented with the SRX model triple pipes, but i imagine it would work as well.

What I think Phaz is saying is this is close to the can mod with out drilling.Your just punching holes in it.

I believe this only works on the sx style silencers!
