Hi all,
Ive been looking at this site for nearly a year... Its great!
Its been 17 years since Ive owned a sled. I'm in to many other sports such as Mountain biking, Snowboarding, White water, etc.
I have been fortunate to do a boys SnowBoard trip to Western canada for the last 7 years, We have incorporated snowmobiling for the last 4.
The bug is deep... Looking at spending $3000-$4000.Can, On a sled. 600 is big enough. Any reccomendations?

Welcome aboard Mike.
SX600R.......One of the most bullet proof sleds ever built. Plus there are tons of go fast goodies on the market for it if you ever decide you need more. Don't be afraid of looking at higher milage units as long as they appear to be well maintained.....6-7000 miles and its just getting broken in.

Looking at a 98 600 xtc with 8000KM. In great condition.

A little less suspension...I think it has 7" in the front and 8" in the rear. The SX-R has 9" in front and 10.5" in the rear.
It all depends on price...you can upate the suspension with newer componants if you want a better ride.

I read 9" Fr and 11.5 R,on the 98 XTC.

What about a 96 xt with 110 in one cylinder and 30 in the other. The machine is in good shape overall and has had a recent clutch. I may be able to get it for $600.00. Should I bother?

Personally In that price range I would lean toward an SXr, but you certainly can do no wrong with an XTC either. Just something about the Blue sleds and the racier edge of the SXr's, there just more appealing to me.

I had an 96XT...Great sled...I'd recommend that for a Beginner that likes to tinker...But you sound beyond that...and just the 1 year shift from the Pogo to the trailing arm will impress you allot more...Both the XTC and SX600R are great...I'd lean towards the SX myself if its the right price...

Fluid, What type of riding are you most intrested in. we need more information to suit your Riding more comfotrbaly
4 big ones will buy a lot of sled these days.
Be patient don't be a sucker. I expect you can get a low mileage 700 SXr in damn good shape for under 4 clams. If you want some speed I bet you can get a nice SRX 700 with not many more miles for the same dough.

Here's some very advice I like to tell sledding newbies. "If you can't hold your line in a corner you are driving beyond your ability and you need to slow down" Go you can go fast in straightway if you like but watch for surprises. I have seen small dips or bumps that can toss you off your sled before you have time to react. We had a Noob learn the hard way last year. Remember sleds feel no pain but you will feel pain twice. The pain from the crash and pain of paying for the repair.
