I OWN BOTH AND LOVE BOTH, BUT WHAT THE HELL LETS HEAR SOME RACE STORIES ABOUT THESE TOO HEAVEY WEIGHTS. TELL YA THOUGH, I HAVE A 95 VMAX 4 800 (stock 800 twins still on, not quads ) AND I STILL PLAY ON GRASS WITH IT, I HAVE HAD PRETTY GOOD LUCK AGINST THE SRX,s. I THINK IT WILL TAKE MY 2000. HOW ABOUT ON THE LAKES RUNNING 1000 ft!!! 3:16 (tony)

Last year my SRX had an undeafeated record. I raced uncountable F7's, 2-3 XCR 800's, 2 Mach z's, 3 Apex's, and alot of other big iron sleds and I had not been beat the entire year with the exception of our RX1 on nitrous. Well after we fixed up the V-max 4 with PSI quads, we took it out to run against my SRX. My dad was on the V-max 4 and first we went from a dead stop. He hammered it and I thought the sled was going to flip over with that track we put in it because the skis lifted considerably and right away I noticed I am 5 sleds behind. It took longer then I expected to catch him but I did infact catch him. We then switched sleds (he outweighs me by 60 pounds). I launch out of the hole and we were basically dead even near the end of the race. We do this for a while and we realize the SRX still has the V-max by a good 3-4 mph top end. During all of these races, we were running a 47-41 helix and the RPM were only at 8300 because we were not sure if the Pipes ran at 8300 or 8800. So we went back and we swapped out the helix to a 39 straight helix to see if we could get it up to 8800 RPM. Well, we did a short race and once again he gets me out of the hole really bad and I notice this time that I am NOT CATCHING HIM. We go all the way down to the end of the lake for a very long run to see if the SRX ever catches him. Out of the hole, he gets about a 3 sled lead and The three sled lead started to expand to about 4-5 sleds by the end of our 1.5 mile run. We then switch riders and we race with him on my SRX and me on the Vmax-4. I get a huge lead in the begining and by the end of 1.5 run, I was probably 15+ sleds ahead of my SRX. This Vmax is flat hauling right now and if we took it out on flat Ice, it would probably be back to a upper 120's sled on ice. I couldn't believe my SRX got beat! True Story.

I AGREE;
Even though I own 4 Strokes today, I love my old Blue Iron Warriors ;)!

The VMax4 & SRX both FLY, They were hard to give up as I laid a lot of ASSWHOOPINS on Those Other Sleds. ;)!

The ONLY real complaint I had with my VMax4 was Bad Fuel Economy, I actually didn't mind the ride.................
..............I also RIDE DOUBLE on all my sleds, People had a hard time believing we could both fit on those sleds. Not only did we both fit on them, BUT STILL PASSED THEM ON THE TRAILS TO BOOT Catch Us IF YOU CAN

I'm Lookin 4 A SRX again, missed it too much ;)!

:2strokes: :yam:

BOUNTY NICE PICTURES!!!
2000SRX, THIS POST WAS NOT ABOUT SET-UP OPIONIN FROM ME, BUT RUN A 49-43 HELIX IN THAT VMAX 4 AND RUN THOSE QUADS AT 8600-8800. THESE WERE 22 HP BOLT ON, I DYNOED MINE WHEN I FIRST BOUGHT THEM FOR MY 96. SLED WENT FROM 149.8 TO 171.3 !! cool storie!! 3:16 (tony)

Bounty - did you sell both of thoses sleds? - I bought a 95 V-Max 800 (YAMMIEGOD knows) this last winter - my 02 SRX runs pretty good - well my son and I raced back and forth 10-15 times on snow and we would swap sleds (he is 150lbs and I'm 220 lbs) and we were trading wins back and forth - now YAMMIEGOD gave me a clutch set up for the V-Max that I did not get a chance to try, so I don't know how the SRX would have faired against it with that set up, but he also gave me a set up for the SRX that I did not get a chance to try - stock for stock these sleds run pretty close - now with PSI's and good clutching I don't see where an SRX would stand a chance - just so you know, I rode an Apex all last winter - 700+ miles - awesome sled in every aspect - ride, handle, awesome engine - but there is something about the old iron that still gets my motor running!!! - love the sound of a triple or quad - kind of like classic cars from the 60's I guess - (and I own a couple of them) - so I sold the Apex and am going to ride the SRX and V-Max 800 this winter - currently got the V-Max undergoing major restoration - I'll post some more stories after the snow flies!!! ;)!

YAMMIEGOD, as you read, we got the thing going near the end of the year and it is hitting the right RPM now, that is why it is faster then my SRX now. Really goes. I demand a rematch this year though and have both the sleds run the same track. I will be back for my title. ;)!

2000SRX, I WOULD SAY YOU LEFT ALITTLE PERFORMANCE ON THE TABLE RUNNING THOSE QUADS AT 8300, HELL THAT STOCK RPM. ALITTLE DEFFERENCE GETTING INTO THE POWER BAND THOUGH WITH THOSE PIPES. POST RESULTS WHEN YOU CAN RACE THESE TOO AGAIN. 3:16 (tony)

If you read the entire post, We first ran the sled at 8300 RPM and noticed performance wasn't there. We then swapped to a striaght 39 degree helix and the RPM's went to 8800 and held it. That is the only reason the V-max beat my sled was because we got the clutching at 8800. Thanks for the help though.

I've got both Vx800 and Srx700 (2001) and it's about a toss up. Heavy trail mods on the 800 and the 700 is set up 'real nice'. Of all the sleds I have owned, I somehow gravitate back to that VMax4 as all-time favorite for the trails. Something about that frame twisting torque, wide power, and unique 'stock car' sound. I even prefer the old pogo stick front end in many ways - millions of dirt bikes can't be wrong.

YES; Sadly I Say they are gone............But NOT FORGOTEN.

My 06 ATTAK is fast no doubt about that.............but the 4strokes still sound like a sewing machine. I MISS THE THUNDER BABY. Just something about a SRX that NEVER LEAVES YOUR BLOOD ;)!

I know I can put together a 190hp SRX, That would give the 4stoke guys Fits ;)!

I had a 93 Vmax 4 with 800 manifolds and pipes that I sold to my brother. It was very fast. I had a 95 800 with quads and clutching that was much faster. I sold my 800 for a 01 SRX. My 800 would destroy my srx and the reason I now have an 03 RX1 is that my old 750 that I sold my brother would beat my SRX by at least 7-8 sled lengths in the 1/8 mile. My wife now has a 99 SRX7 that I've been playing with and she is dead even with me right until top end where I slowly pull away. There enlies the reason I'm getting N2O. :o| :o|

I had a 92 750 then owned a 93 and a 94 750 at the same time. roll on against the 2000 srx and we were even until about 110 then the 94 would walk away. the 93 was about even with the 2000 srx doing a roll on. the 94 would take the speedo past 120 dwn to the 125/130 dream meter world... got 12 mpg too. the 93 would only average 11.

Ahh... Great stories!

My brother has ´00 SRX 7 with longtravel skid and front. With Öhlins and WP shocks and ice ripper 1,25 inch track

We lined my ´96 800 ST and his SRX last spring few times. Stock vs. stock the SRX will beat my V4 all the way to 660 ft. Then we added Tony´s setup for both sleds. Now we were closer, but still SRX was lightly ahead ( 1/2 sled lenght, my ski´s at his footwell. I was just left spinning.

Now I have new ripsaw (1,25 inch), so we´ll be testing again

Wildmax... that 800 is insane nice! Never on this forum or others have I commented on a sled... but that 800 is downright siiiick!

Thank you, Viper Guy. That was nice of you to say.

I did a fairly aggressive custom job on the chassis and that mill is not just another pretty face - it can back up the "muscle car" attitude. List of mods and photos somewhere on the VMax-4 site from last year I think.

I tend to agree , I have the 94 750 Vmax4 ST, and a 2001 SRX/ohlins close but felt way more confident at high speeds on the V-Max4.
