continuing what turk was saying, if the rpms slowly climb from 8200 up to 8500, you know that you are loading the engine as hard as you can while still moving from the peak torque rpm to the peak horsepower rpm. Torque gets you out of the hole, horsepower pulls you the big top end numbers. If the transition were quick, chances are it would be from a belt slip or something binding, and no matter what the cause you wouldn't be loading the engine as hard as you could be.
1st time I got fooled by throttle response was riding my buds twins ac/poos/doos/. They seemed real slow & the triple Yammies seemed light years faster. When we lined up the slow feeling twins were rockets. Got on em again & shook my head cus they felt like they had 1/2 the hp!!!!! Same scenario as riding a good running v-max 4 or my turbo RX1. Does not seem that fast till you line up with something then after the race you just gotta smile!!!

Keep this going...very good read...Please talk more about how you dial in your clutch so it gets to a certain rpm and climbs to peak hp...you know what I mean...different senarios. and how to correct....
