I'm thinking of trying an slp silencer on my viper but I dont want alot of noise does anyone know how they sound? I love the sound of the old polaris 650 indys
 
Word has it that slp are the quietest aftermarket can with a good sound,but possibly less hp or the same regardless of what they say in there literature.Good choice as far as brand goes, slp is top shelf stuff.

A buddy of mine had a Slp can on his sled before he but the triple pipes on it, IMO it sounded sweet, its not very loud and i dont think he lost much if any power from it...worth the $$ if you just want to sound a little different :letitsnow, BTW it was on an 02 viper

It will slow you down and drop some rpms = lost power. They do sound nicer and weigh less though.
 
Have you checked your sled against another stocker, or compared rpms and top speed same day, in same conditions, with the stocker and then with the SLP
 
I had one and I loved the sound,not loud at all has a really deep rumble to it. Plus the SLP's are chambered not packed. the ones like mbrp are packed and those are the ones that rob horse power. They are bulit chambered like the flowmaster mufflers for muscle cars, chambered muflers bulid horsepower,I noticed performance increase over stock compared to other stockers I ran against!!
 
I had one on my Viper, it wasnt much, if any louder than stock. I felt I did lose some preformance, but it did shed a bunch of weight. It's size made it real easy for shovel storage.
You wont be dissapointed with sound.
 
I also had an SLP can and it was a good sound improvment from stock imo, i had a problem with it vibrating and eventually putting a hole it the can after about a year of use...not sure if anyone else had this problem
 
I have SLP's ceramin triples on mine... previously I had hauch pipes on there.... made the switch to SLP and didn't have to change the jetting (similiar flow then).... and I LOVE the sound.
 
Can't say much for the triples SLPs...But I am curious on an SLP can aswell...I've get sooo many stories about This one or the bender single Pipe and can losing power...My only curiousity is if it sheds 10lbs and losing power...would it almost be the same as
stock setup(power to weight?)...
Hell..if I knew that a bender or SLP was the same power as a stock Viper can...but 15lbs light..then you'd still win in the end right?..

curious is all...I just wanna shed weight and maintain the same power is all
 
Had two different Vipers come in the shop last season both down 300-400 RPM and the only change from the previous season was they installed a SLP silencer. I put stock can back on and the RPM came back.
 
I just bought a used ceramic coated SLP silencer but it appears I over looked the fact that it will not fit with electric start.

I do not want to take off my electric start. I was willing to give up a few HP to save some weight. I guess I need to rethink this.

Okay I know MBRP are not the same as SLP silencers but, MBRP(stock out of box) = 300-400 rpm loss!! MBRP with 2 wraps of exhaust header wrap = no rpm change over stock.

Weird the MBRP need to retain the heat to perform better. Does SLP need to as well??
 
Hey GoneBlue...I'm in the same boat..hence why I haven't purchased yet...however I did hear that you can relocate the battery...annnd or..I see MountainPerformance offers a battery that sheds another 10lbs off...its for an RX1..unsure if this could fit a viper...but I'd be curious on that aswell...
 
You can use an SLP can on an ER Viper, but, you must be willing to relo the battery. Use an Odessy PC-545 sealed cell battery and mount it above your right footwell at a 90 degree angle to the original. All the wires fit etc. A bit of a tight squeeze getting it in there but it works great. I've done 2-Vipers this way and have run 2-full seasons with no problems. One with SLP triples and one with just the can. Any questions just ask -- Howie
