Id like to try a indy 4500 intake and do a comparison.. Indy and the mopar mag BOTH SAY the 4150 intake with the spacer is the way to go.. i agree COMPLETELY with mrviper700's theology!!! When you upset the "natural aspiration" of the intake tract, you produce 2 things SWIRL and velocity inccrease.. Sometimes swirl and/or velocity will actually HELP a motor. BUT... if the geometry is done correctly, a SMOOTHE AS A BABY's BUTT intake tract will OUTPERFORM a "rocky" one!!! Thats why POLISHING and PORTING work so well!!! I AM A MOPAR GUY (like you couldn't tell) and i have heard about the CHEBBIE guys welding a "D" in their intake tract to get the fuel charge to "swirl".. It actually helps the combustion process !!! As far as leaving off the convertor,, I am a little afraid of that because of the sprague in the trans... I have a MONSTER sprague in it BUT the sprague is the weak link of the whole trans.. leaving at 5000 will MAYBE be too violent on the trans and the driveshaft!!! I HAVE TO GET the pinion angle correct BEFORE I try pushing it.. I COULD try different REV chips to see how she leaves on the transbrake..but,,, the MANUAL brakes might not hold it on the line???? PLUS,, I probably SUCK at TWO FOOTING it off the line!!! I think spending some time on the DYNO this spring will open up a FEW cans of worms... Pinning the distributor seeems like a MUST DO!!! the car idles like SHit anyways,,, so WHO CARES if it idles a little worse????

It won't idle worse if you pin the distributor, it will just keep the timing from advancing too far. With the springs and waights you have no idea what it is doing at 7000 rpm. For me dyno time is a waste of money. You could spend a whole day on that thing and maybe gain 10 hp. The only problem is you gained it under those conditions. It would be a good learning excperience though. Racing conditions are usually a lot different. unless your'e talking about A chassis dyno. There you would be able to feel the difference in throttle response and somewhat how the car reacts to the changes. Thats where I would go. As for Indy heads, Not putting mopar down, and no offence intended, But I was told by my local engine builder that is also a TAD crew chief, that Indy heads suck out of the box and need a lot of porting to make them flow evenly on each cylinder. He told me this after I baught a set of Brodix heads from him that needed a lot of chamber work to get the CC even. Maybe he was just trying to make me feel better by saying the Indy heads are worse. Spending some time porting and going to a flow bench is probably worth some HP.
It costs another 1000.00 after you get them to get them flowing right.. They sell the heads and then they sell the 1000.00 portwork. I am going the chassis dyno AFTER I get the distributor straightened out.. i got the car and it was doing 11.40's and now its down to 10.20's so I am doing something right?????? i've only had it for 1 year and after throwing a few rods and splitting a spider gear in the dana 60,,, I am slowly getting the thing to go straight and learning how to drive it.. A guy in the neighborhood SWEARS by MOPAR heads with a zillion dollars worth of port work.. I spent around 6000.00 on the indy heads/intake,etc,etc and i'm going in the right direction... Thanks for the help... I NEED IT!!!!

I'd love to own a Mopar, I was looking for a 70 GTX before I baught the Chevelle, but he wanted 6000.00 for a basket case. Would have made a nice pro street project. Man those cars are excpensive. 6000.00 for a set of Indy heads!!! Nice cars but too much for me.
I got a PRISTINE 1973 Plymouth CUDA 340 4 speed.. The car is worth $40,000.00.... It was almost FOUR THOUSAND NEW!!!!! they only made 1000 of them with the 340 4 speed so they are rare!!! That car goes from the garage to the car show and back to the garage.. i really like taking it to the woods and going for a ride the best!!!! Don't want to screw it up!!!! The MOPARS are getting WORTH KEEPING for a while.. Its better than money in the BANK!!!!

A local guy picked up a 69 Hemi GTX from the origianal owner in Alberta. It was covered up in a barn. All origianal with around 40,000 miles. No rust and mint. All black with black interior, automatic, red wall tires, dana rear, build sheet and bill of sale. He said when he took the cover off the mice scattered, but they never got inside. I think he said he paid around $50,000 for it. He said the engine was noisy and leaked oil thats why the guy parked it. Turns out it was only a valve adjusment and gaskets. Some people have all the luck!!
do you know how much that hemi gtx is worth????? I saw one at the "grove" and the guy told me that he WOULD NOT TAKE 300 GRAND for the car!!! it was ABSOLUTELY BEAUTIFUL and had a $6000.00 paint job on it (well worth the 6000.00 I might add) Something about those black on black hemi gtx's that makes them worth the price of MY FLIPPIN HOME!!!! (1200 square feet on a 30x125 foot lot in Chicago) ID RATHER HAVE THE GTX>>>> I'd live in the GARAGE!!!! I promise!!!!!!

I don't have any recent pics, and I haven't had it out in a few years, but I got hooked on Mopars at an early age growing up on the East side of Detroit (Mopar and Chebby town). I'll see if I can't scan and old pic when I was single/childless and drove it regularly.
'69 - Barracuda 383-S fastback - sunflower yellow
383 Magnum, 833 N/P four speed (one of only 246 with the four speed)
They made more 440's that year than 383's.
My very first car was a '67 coupe - 273 commado/904. Bought it off an old friend of the family for $200.00. 2 gallons of jet black and a week in the garage only to wrap it around a tree two weeks later.
And I haven't owned a car other than black (except the 'Cuda) in 20 years.
When Jr. is old enough to hold a grinder we'll do a (sub) frame off. Toot!

I'm not sure what it's worth. But he did have it appraised in 04 or 05 at over 100,000. I think they are worth what someone is willing to pay. Personally even if I had the money I wouldn't pay that mutch. The car is too nice and valuable to drive. I guess it's a good investment, but not much fun if you can't use it. Car show awards are nice, but I like to cruise and race. I built a show car and won many awards, even a best in show out of 700 cars. When people seen the car at the track they thaught I was nuts. I sold the car in 03, just recently it was fetured in a Canadian Chevelle Club magizine. My current project will be just as nice when finished, but I'm still going to beet the crap out of it!!!
Thats why I have a cuda to show and a challenger to race!!! The challenger was a 340 car (which was a shame to chop into a racecar),, But, i bought it already chopped from a guy in New Mexico!!!! It doesnt have ANY RUST on it!!! I like to drive the cuda around AND I am not too enthused about showing it in car shows!! Sit there all day for a trophy????? I'd rather "throw motor parts" at the "crowd" at the dragstrip!!! There is a little TALENT in driving the challenger compared to CLEANING AND WAXING the Cuda!!!
