after reading all the ideas on this thread to stop darting,I did the shim thing to my ski rubber....3/16 " thick piece of hyfax cut 2" long, glued on with contact cement.
also shimmed the lower radius rods plastic outer bushings with 2 layers of miller lite beer can aluminum shim stock.
I wrapped the shim stock around the steel sleeve and slipped the 2 plastic bushings over it ...thats how much free play there was.
I went back to the same trail I was on before to test the fix.
These 2 things almost completely eliminated the darting.
I run 7.5" shaper bars.
I am set at about 1/2" total toe out on the skis.
Thanks TY!

I used the shim and it worked pretty well. then I went a step farther (is there ANYONE her that can leave something alone?!?! lol!) and got some simmons flexi skis. best thing ever lol! NO darting and handles better. with the ripsaw the sled was a completely different animal. now I have a monoshock and will have a rode report after the weekend

Wow, gone for one week cuz I had to wait for a new free 500 gig Hard drive from dell, and akrievins gets a Viper! Way to go man!
For Carbides, dont go with ATS, they seem really weak and just not OEM quality. Id say shaper bars, theyre awsome, and thats after trying lots of different carbides. Leave the stock skis, save some money, maybe get new ones next year if you really need to.

I would wait until you can get a good ride in. We had very little snow in Mississauga area when you took your sled out.

Oh I know... I'll do the shim thing as it's free, and can be removed in a snap. Seems like almost everyone likes the shim idea, so I'll keep that on. MIght head up north next weekend if the trails are open. Anyone know how much snow we have in Parry Sound?portsevernsledder said:I would wait until you can get a good ride in. Yep, that's how this works Yamahammer485! I had to splurge. I love the styling of this Viper. It's my favourite sled out of all sleds made!
Now... if only I could get out there to ride!
How many kms you got on your sled this year?

I have 130.7kms on right now, and thats from just putting around a really small lake, just trying to put kilometers on, so I can race everyone who is just dying race me. Breakin it in.
Im not sure if you knew, but I bought a 2007 Attak, thing is insane!!, and today my freinds just bought a red 02 Viper ER.
You will love the Viper, I always wanted one, but the Deal of a lifetime came on the attak, so I went with it.
Just need snow for trails now, and some more ice, but little lakes round here are perfect.
Check this pic out, this is comparing the stock attak carbide to the 9" shaper bar. If you ever had any doubts on what to choose....

Stock cabides are crap ! You need at least 8 inches on the attak. My buddy drove most of lasyear on the stock carbides and could never really corner all that well. He got some woody's 8 inch carbides and its like night and day ! I have 10 inches on my C&A Skis.

akrievins- Do you find your track spinning an awful lot compared to your other sled? I can't stand it, even with my 1 1/4 inch predator track it spins forever and my old 570 can deff beats me off the line... i got on order transfer rods, but will they make that much of a difference? i hope so....

I still need to take it for a real ride. I have'nt even been able to get over 60kms where I took it for a short spin at the school yard and on my street. It was a ride for a few mins and get outta there so the cops don't come.
Hopefully I'll make it up this weekend to test it out. I've heard good things about those transfer rods, but don't know much at all about them.

I had the stock transfer rodds on my proaction and with th eripsaw would barely spin. on the trails and packed snow on the lakes (I had no studs) it would take off like crazy. the monoshock I have now is even better

Well with semi packed snow i am spinning the track for 20 to 30 feet, i want it to hook up so next time i have a friend ride it they wont think its a six hundred (my six button is broke )

I have 144 1.175 studs up the middle on my predator track that was installed this past December. I now have no spinning issues ! My stock Yoko track with 96 studs up the middle was spinning like crazy. I think I might have lost a bit of top speed With the new track but do get their alot quicker.

So, do I have transfer rods on there already? Sorry for the silly question, but I have no idea.

Yeah there are rods under there, just they dont adjust as much and not nearly as quick... the stock ones require two wrenches to adjust them, the after market ones dont, but some have freezing issues
