Might have a problem.........

Last night i went up to a friends garage and installed my heated shield hookup. If you remember from the " warming a sled up " thread, I had the srx with recent bog. We wheeled it outside and fired it up. It was 9* last night and let it run for a good 10 minutes, until the heat exchangers where warm.

I took off across the parking lot at just above clutch engagement and into another lot that was unplowed. I returned back, made my way out again going easy and let it run for another minute. ( threw on some gloves)

I went back out and the sled had that bog and it wasn't cleaning up. I had put some drygas in earlier. After a few rips across the parking lots, I was out in the second lot turning around and it started making a slight whining noise, when staightened out and gave it a little gas it bogged right out and stalled. I pulled it over and it fired right up but wouldn't rev passed 3000rpm and immediately stalled.

I went to pull it again and the pull cord wouldn't come out. #$%&* I took the plugs out and moved the primary, until it got tight.... then with the plugs out I was able to pull it over. I put the plugs back in and it fired up first pull, and revved fine, but still bogging?? I drove it over to a snow bank and loaded it in the truck. Going down to my local dealer today to check some things.

Oh, the plugs looked good, not lean at all.

Any ideas??????????

Did a compression check, middle cylinder was just below 80. I need a new cylinder, piston...........

Sucks, I just bought this thing 2 months ago and haven't even put a mile on it. It ran great when I bought it, so there's really no blame on the seller. Oh, In my first post I mentioned that the plugs looked good, Now that I was in the light I noticed the plug above that cylinder had no oil on it at all.

Plugged oil line????????
 
Can't be a line there are two, one goes to the F/P and mixes with the gas
and the other goes to the lower case for the crank from what i understand
on srx's.

so if one burnt down from lack of oil they all would have.

So why would the spark plug be clean? The other 2 looked perfect. I'm trying to figure this out before the parts get in and hope this doesn't happen again.

I did drain all of the gas and it was piss yellow. I appreciate any ideas.

what do you mean "clean" and the other two "perfect", your not going to
see oil on a plug thats been ran,your going to see eather a rich dark black
or lean white or cardboard perfect on a plug.

if that plug was white she was running lean like theblues stated above..
time to tear into it and see what happend,post picks too so we can try

On a freashly ran plug?? ...i'm talk'en on the the electrode not the threads..
 
Just got the word from my local dealer, bad crank. I've heard that 98's had a recall, but not sure of the 99. This sled only has 1373 miles on it, I bought it with 1372 miles. It is the cleanest srx i've ever seen and was maintained by the owner. Some of you know him and the sled was for sale on this site, but I'm not going that route. He hasn't recieved this info yet. Hoping for some kind of resolution, but this was a private sale. So much for riding.

WOw that would suck..hope somthing can be worked out....
i think some '99's had the problem too,can the crank be fixed??
 
Yes the 99's had bad cranks too. Should of checked the vin # to see if it had been updated. The crank gets out of phase.
