Hey SRX'ers ,when I really pinned the SRX today hard, eventually the DCS light goes on and off,When this is happening,do I have to let off throttle or can I continue. When I am cruising and then punch it,this really doesn't happen.Had some of the other guys gas in the tank, but filled up with premium myself. It was about -18 c today and a windchill to.

So a decent clutching setup for my SRX would be w-w-w primary spring.8DN-20 loaded up 4.5 g in both holes. Then a 51/43 Helix with green secondary spring wound to 70.Am I correct or am I off somewhere.

Bluemonster,
When the light comes on, let off the throttle. Your CDI is retarding your ignition because it was detonating. Thats pretty cold. The 02 was jetted on the lean side.
If the motor is stock go up 1 jet size. PTO: 148.8 CENTER: 147.5 MAG: 147.5 It will shut the light off on the cold days and long pulls. The mains are over lapped from the needles so it will improve the midrange from setting off the DCS light as well.
That set-up is correct. Run the secondary at 60 or 70, which ever suits you best.

TomSeal is right, 02's were too lean for cold temps. I am going with 01 specs,
150PTO, 148.8, 148.8. What Tom suggested is 1/2 way between 00&02 and 01 specs. But when I go up north sometimes, it's nothing to see -30C, and sometimes can't get good gas either. Plus, SRX's don't need to be jetted on the ragged edge to make power like some sleds do, fairly forgiving fuel curve, that's why I'm going a little richer. I'm actually richer than that right now, at 151.3, 150, 150 but it's too fat!
I'm running pretty much the same clutch set-up, but I have an advant-edge 48-40 helix, which is close to yours. It also has 5* adjustment. I'm at 85* wrap to get the R's right at 8450, but the trails aren't very hard packed yet either. Harpack=less wrap, loose snow needs more.

I let go of the gas and the DCS stopped blinking.Hey daman I checked the specs for the 2001 jetting,it is set at PTO-150
center-148.8
mag-148.8
You should be good to go.Will probably set mine up like that to.

I had Don port my motor and cut the heads. I only went up 1 jet size when he recommended 2. When I was on the muni ride on a cold day the light would come come if i pinned the throttle for any length of time. You can jet the SRX's a little on the fat side and it wont hurt the performance. SRX's have a wide fuel curve on top end. Its better to be safe. Im going to try 150 PTO 148.8 center and mag

run a tank of gas as low as you can get it to get rid of that crappy gas that the guy thought was ok to use and then hammer it. might be worth being careful with

Sled ran well today despite I couldn't see 25 feet down if front of me because it was snowing with gusty winds creating low visibilty.Taking a chance today to open her up,don't see to far ahead of me.Did about a dozen at least launches from standing position.Re-adjusted my suspension a bit.Pulled up limiter straps to 40mm and basically "o" preload on center shock.Put my secondary from SXR in it with the 51/43 Helix and green spring wrapped at 70.If I sit forward more when I launch, she still will lift front, but not as wild as the day before.Pulls super hard as the ski's stay up a while.Use my body to transfer weight to left or right side depending if sled wants to twist either way with ski's up.Got a few perfect holeshots...straight in line and up to 100mph quick .Sled is a beast and so consistent every run.DCS not coming on today, must be my good premium fuel taking over now.Got to get that damn Tach replaced, can't see what the hell my launch and WOT rpm's are.Got to pu a w-w-w primary spring and put 4.5 g rivets in inner holes. Will also order the jets the 2001 SRX's were runing.150 pto...148.8 center and mag.
Can see why people on here get so excited with there SRX's,I sure am.

Well today got my hands dirty.Removed air box and carbs and took the jets out ,pilots and fuel screws.Cleaned and blew out everything out.The bowls are super clean with no crud at all.The center bowl drain screw is fused in pretty good, can't turn it.The other 2 I happened to get them loose.I sprayed the center one with stuff that can penetrate it I hope. Will spray every so often, and if it won't come out,Ill leave it.Don't want to break it.Could I try vise grips on it?Checked out my wiring today.Got the harness out from under the engine and re-routed it over the pull start and back down and back to it's original spot to plug in.Could not find any wires exposed or broken.Took old tape and rubber cover off the wires and it checked good, nothing bad.I I re-taped everything up double, and plugged the two connectors back in.Got a lead on a Tach from a 2001.Since I had to loosen motor mounts to lift engine to get the wires out from under,I figured I should and will have to re-align the clutches. So I ordered a good clutch alignment tool, needed 1 anyways.I don't think everything will come in by Friday,so no rush now,got the SXR to drive on the weekend.Cleaned out the engine compartment a little at the same time.
Well I am going to take apart my primary and change rivets to 4.5g in inner holes, will put the new 15.6 mm rollers I purchased about a month ago and then will ahve to wait for my new w-w-w spring.
Well go back into garage and re adjust my suspension according to
Betheviper.
