alright guys...soem of you know that i've been complaning about a vibration problem...well...i've done everything i can and know to stop it..Heres a list of what i've done: Clipped ALL lugs above and below windows on this 03 predator track, clipped them enough that if I clip anymore it wont be worth having the damn track..reached up inside of the tunnel felt to see if the track can hit the protectors and it can..but even with no lug it stiull could touch the protectors..I've tried tight tight tight track tention, stilld oesn't make a diffrence..I put the sled on a stand and rev it up and you can hear/feel vibration in the sled..the engine torques to one side quite a bit...i've looked down and can't see any broken motor mounts...could a mount be the problem?it does it low/high speeds under accelertaion...I need help..the riding season is prime and i'm sitting here scratching my head.. :o| :o|

I would look at the motor mounts again. When you describe the sound it points me to motor mounts, plus my motor doesnt twist when you crank on it.

how new is ur belt? a burnt belt can cause that. at low speeds it will seem like ur track is hittin something. al high speed makes the sled vibrate. other then that im not sure. id say maybe check ur clutch. a unbalmced primary could cause it too and down the line much much bigger problems(even tho this is unlikely) make sure there isnt a pice missing out of one side or a wieght for some reason broke. then after that id check ur chain for a broken link. but for the most part and most likely culprit i can think of is a belt.

take a pry bar adn see if u can move the motor. if it moves more then seems reasonable(like a 1/2 inch or more) u prolly ahve a broken one. remeber they are rubber so they will move some.

yeah, I'll check tomorrow, I believe i could move the motor alittle by hand ob one side but it seemed just loose and still in contact..looked and didn;t see any cracks in the mount side that moved...could it be possible its loose?the rubber one near the pto side seems to have the rubber alittle off the metal..maybe just loose..i'll check tomorrow..

would this make it vibrate?making theb elt take a diffrent angle or something?this could prob be the reason why both old belts started to fray. seemed to get worse the more I drove it, at first it would only do it at higher speeds..maybe this was putting more drag on the motor...if it isn;t motor mounts what in *ell could it be?

has it taken any solid hits in the front end? had a 98 SRX last week and the clutches were way out of alignment from 1) the crank being welded or 2) sticking it in a culvert (spelling?) and wadding the front end up. it was a belt muncher also. Just listing it as a possibility. good luck

I would look also at all the drive bearings. Both bearing in the jackshaft. Also the driveshaft. I was working on a cat 02 ZL 800 last year and it had a vibration. Spent two weeks looking. Found a bad jackshaft bearing (near secondary). That fixed the problem. Another thing how new are the slides. Were they cut for length? If so, if they are to long they will hit the track clips and also cause a vibration. Hope that helps. Brad

If it is fraying belts, your alignment might be far enough out to cause it to vibrate. Maxdlx

it hasn;t frayed the new belt yet, but yes I have hit a few solid bumps/snow banks. It may have loosened or broke a motor mount, I did a clutch alignmentment on it before the riding season and all was great. I'm gonna get out there today and check the mounts...is there an easy way of doing this guys>?seems like a tuff job!

i have seen motor mounts come loose on a few vipers......check the 12 mm bolts that go into the block too.

Problem Solved

well reached down near the clutch side mount...the nut had come completly off the bolt..could this be my vibration problem and loss of top end??

put new bolt on, made sure clutches were aligned, belt deflection is good, track moved by itself of a stand BUT vibration on a stand is still there....it seems like the track is still rubbing..and i've cut it ALOT over the windows...not sure what else to do guys...you have any other ideas? just run it and deal wit hthe vibration in the handle bars and gas tank?if track tention is half inch with no pull is that too tight?

Honestly, i think you need to pull your airbox and carbs and carefully check ALL FOUR motor mounts closely. I broke a motor mount two weekends in a row only to find that it was happening because the one right next to it was torn on the back of the engine under the carbs. All the stress was on the one motor mount, so it kept breaking. AFTER you rule out the motor mounts, pop the chaincase cover and check everything out in there. There are 3 bearings, chain, and gears that all be going to hell causing issues.

well my buddy owns a snowmobile shop and he did the track change for free..replaced bearings and all..I can't seem to set my track tention..i'm not 100% sure on how to do this..I've read post on how to do it but I must be thick headed cause i can't get it figured out...I think this may be the vibration problem..also I did check all other motor mounts..motor is solid now. ALso, when I check those bearing just check to see if they roll freely?

I did check the chain case and gears, its all fine, but didnt' check the bearings..Heres the problem. I have the sled up on a stand..i'm trying to adjust track tention at this time. I give the sled gas and at about 35 or so mph it stats to vibrate and worsens with more throttle/speed. Could an out of aligned track do this? Its funny..I found broken idler wheels, and a motor mount nut completly gone tryign to figure out this vibration and its STILL there..I think its my alignment cause it wasn't this bad when I first had the track put on..and I messed with track tention..my fault..

My Sled does the same thing , cant understand why , new belt on , drive bearings changed last month. I going to take it back to the repair shop and have them go through it .It sucks cause the sled is very nice , but cant drive the sled with this problem .
