With fuel, the octane is the fuels ability NOT to burn, so running race gas, although it will keep the light from blinking will make less power unless the engine needs the octane level. If you could feasibly do it, a engine running on 87 octane will make more horsepower then one on 100 octane in the same engine, unless the engine is made to run high compression, advanced ign timing, etc.
In your case, if you dont have the option of ease, to mix the race gas in with your fuel, your gonna have to jet up, this will diminsih the heat as your basicly cooling the combustion chamber and pistons tops off with fuel, while all not that bad, it will still run good and not have any ill effects.
It also depends on the riding you do and your basic temp, seeing your up in Canada, your most likely colder then here most of the time, fuel quality im sure isnt as good as here and bigger jets would be in order. Lean is mean in short running distances(500-660ft drags) but the motors require alot of fuel to show you good mph on a long run, fuel is mph!
