I am wondering if anyone out there has a hard time starting there srx in temps below -5 degree F. Today I went out for a ride on the lake and the temps last night were -20. I tried to start my sled at noon and it was about -5 degrees out and I must have pulled it about 25 times before it started to pop. It took about 35 times before it would run by itself. I had a half of a tank of new 91 no nox in it and I drove the sled about 3 days ago, any ideas????? I run yamalube for oil. I even tried a new set of sparkplugs and it does not make the sled start better. The choke cable is set to yamaha specs. I am out of ideas, hopefully you guys can solve my problem. Once I got the sled running it ran perfect!!!!!!! How many pulls does it take you guys to get your sled started in these temps? What can I do to make it start better??????Thanks guys!!!!!!!!!!

P.S. I don't think that I could get my sled running at -20 below 0. I don't think that I could pull it enough for it to start!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

a little trick you can try is when you shut it off after riding for a day, hit the choke before shutting it off for the night, this will make it richer inside when you go to start it the next time.

buddy has an 01 srx and it does the same thing in cold temps..found out it was water in the fuel freezing the fuel pump/lines it would start then take forever to start again.Mind you 93 octane..I dunno about them gas stations now adays :o|

check the rail that pull the choke piston on the carb the fork use and after it doesnt pull the choke on the carb no more the rail goes sideway but doesnt pull the choke piston

The other day it was around -35 out, my sled was in the back of my truck and i unloaded it and fired it up. Fired up in exactly 5 pulls. The only time i've ever had a hard time starting mine was when its already warm, then it takes 2 or 3 pulls and a touch of throttle

my srx 7 starts in 4 or 5 pulls no matter what the weather, or temp. clean those carbs it'll help. by the way these are hard fast pulls kinda feels like trying to pull start a locomotive though.

I clean the carbs and set them to spec via the service manual, so I am going to try mr vipers trick and see if it will help.

did u take a look at the rail that pull the piston on the carb for the choke ?

Let us know, but you shouldn't have to..

I have the same problem w/ my srx6 and 7. Many pulls. Right now it's about 5 above[f] and it would take 7-10 pulls on each sled but put a hair dryer on the carbs for about an hour and 3 pulls. Sounds like using the choke at shut down would work too.
