Thats exactly how i do it with no slider problems.Diceman said:Pull down..used a fish scale
you could pull your front limiters up a little or install a marginal snow wheel
kit.

replace the bolts in the secondary on the back of the big clutch, there are bolts with washers, they get worn down and your belt rides up, also try removing some washers before you do this. the washers are used to adjust the belt. remove some to lower belt.
check the bottom of your belt to see if its worn from rubbing on your primary.
also i run my track just tight anough so it dosnt ratched.

Thanks Daman...I will tighten the track and see if that works....one last question..if I just left it alone would it hurt anything??daman said:Thats exactly how i do it with no slider problems.

No, not unless it starts ratcheting or slapping on the tunnel.Diceman said:if I just left it alone would it hurt anything??

Hey Daman..tighten track but it did nothing....then I decided to take the belt off...it seemed really tight...when I got it off I held it up against my spare and it is a smaller belt....at the end of last season I put the spare belt on that came with the machine ( I bought the sled used) a buddy who use to have a sled like mine ,98 vmax xtc 700 , gave me a used belt for a spare...I put that belt on a minute ago and the track is know not turning on the stand....you seem to know everything so I will ask..the belt I have on now is a yamaha belt, Y-89L-17641-01..is this the right belt ? You can send your bill in the mail...lol...Dicemandaman said:No, not unless it starts ratcheting or slapping on the tunnel.

I wouldn't go that far. lolDiceman said:you seem to know everything
your sled takes the 8DN-17641-00-00 belt, that could be your problem too.

Bought a new belt that you guys suggested and when I started the sled the track was not moving....Went for a rip and it really had more jump with the new belt but it was squealing when I slowed down to stop or when I was idling....got home and when it was on the stand the track was turning faster than before.....the belt is even with the top of the clutch..what now, change bolts ???Concept Carbon said:did you check the belt to see if its worn on the bottom, how high is it riding on the secondary.

have you checked the bolts behind the secondary like i said, how many washers do you have on them.
also its normal for a new belt to squeal a bit a first, did you clean it and break it in properly.
are you positive your clutches are aligned properly.
also may want to check to make sure your motor mount sarnt loose.

Hey Carbon....like I said I am new to sledding, did not even know you had to clean or break in a belt, how do you do that ? As for the washers I am not sure how many are on it. Last night when I put the spare belt on the track stopped turning on the stand so I thought my problem was solved. So I went today and bought the belt you guys suggested. When I first put it on today and started the sled on the stand the track was not turning so I went for a ride. Got back later and when I put it on the stand the track was turning faster than lastnight. As for aligned clutches..no idea, lol..all I know is the belt is flush with the top of the clutch..I really appreciate your help...DicemanConcept Carbon said:have you checked the bolts behind the secondary like i said, how many washers do you have on them.

basically clean the sides of the belt with warm water and dish soap with a scotch brite pad, when it drys install it and avoid going wide open for a bit. If you do a search this has come up alot.
I would remove your scondary just put the ebrake on and remove the bolt, make sure not to loose the washers and watch how they come apart look on the back you will see some bolts with washers remove the bolts check to see if they look warn or just replace um there cheap. install them back with only 1 washer.
if this dosnt work i would check your clutch alignment, you can get a tool cheap at royal distributing, or just go to your dealer.

Thanks...to take the clutch of is just one bolt?? If the small bolts are worn do I need speciality bolts from the dealer??Would Royal have them ?Also since I have run the sled already with the new belt would it still make sense to clean it like you said and break it in ???Concept Carbon said:basically clean the sides of the belt with warm water and dish soap with a scotch brite pad, when it drys install it and avoid going wide open for a bit. there is 3 small bolts on the back of the secondary(big) clutch, take
your belt off then the clutch(one center bolt, easy),then when you
get all three bolts out remove the washers and put back the bolts
then reinstall the clutch,
look here;

Clean your belt and important to clean your clutches as well.
Warm soappy water and a scotchbrite pad on belt abd clutches does wonders.
I would make sure that all parts are clean brfore making adjustments.

Saw the pic now..tried to see at work but when I got home I see it now..I stopped in at my local dealer to get oil and quickly asked them about my problem....They told me to see how tight the belt is...if I can move the belt 1/2 to 3/4 inch up and down then they said that means that the primary clutch needs to be shimmed....if it does not move that much then I should remove washers on secondary clutch...You guys agree ?? Was going to start it later this evening..Thanks Boys Dicemandaman said:really,, you don't see the pic i posted here??
