After I fixed the gaskets I sprayed them again and they're definitely not leaking now. The floats are set at 13.3 mm. Now I'm wondering if I should put the shelf back in the air box. Will putting the shelf back in still richen it up even though I cut those holes in the lid or not?

Hey can you get a rebuild kit for the fuel pump from the dealer? Or do they just sell the pump? I don't see anything on the parts diagram other than the pump itself.

Dunno never had to rebuild one,,try your dealer??
cover the holes with duct tape, and put the shelf back in. I tried the hole in the air box idea, and almost burnt down a motor. Call Kevin at Port Yamaha he will know if you can get a rebuild kit. Maxdlx

I put the shelf back in earlier and started it up and it almost instantly fouled the center and mag plugs. Those are the 2 cylinders that I have the 52.5 pilots in. Tomorrow I'm gonna drive to Baldwin/Peacock (again) and buy 2 more 50 pilots. I should have just bought 3 when I was there Saturday but I only got one. I'm just gonna try to get it jetted right with no airbox mod since I've read so many bad things about doing that. The thing that gets me about that is it doesn't say a word about having to do that in their instructions, but their exact words to me on the phone were "you have to do that, it's running richer than we recommend even then if you didn't do it".

There used to be two Yamaha dealers in Cadillac. Are they not there anymore? I've been needing a Yamaha dealer near me, I won't go to Peacock. I wouldn't say you have a problem with your f.p. If you are worried about it just get a new one. The price of the kit isn't worth the difference.

The only Yamaha "dealer" I've ever known about here is Dave's Yamaha & Suzuki. They used to be down on Haynes Street but now they're out on Plett Road. They're almost worthless if you ask me. I don't like Peacock either but at least they stock some jets. Dave's has none. When I went into Dave's on Friday I mentioned to him that this thing has always ran richer on the PTO cylinder since I bought it from him used last year. He immediately took it personally and I think he thought that I was trying to imply he did something wrong to it or something. The only reason I even mentioned it is because I knew as soon as I told him I put pipes on he'd say that was what was wrong with it and that's exactly what he did. He then tried telling me that it has staggered pilots in it from the factory (and no he didn't mean mains).
And that he has one and it runs like
He says all these Yamaha red 700's run like
And he said "that's why they didn't come with pipes from the factory" They almost always cop an attitude with me when I go in there to order parts, which is why I avoid going in there at all costs... Dave's Yamaha & Suzuki =
IMO

Right now I'm so frustrated with this thing I'm about ready to give up. I was just hoping it was something other than the carbs because I suck at figuring out jetting. I'm not even sure if it's too rich or too lean at this point
From the look of those two plugs being so white I immediately start thinking lean, but it doesn't act lean. It's doesn't idle high or act racy and it idles down just fine so I don't think it's lean. That's why I tried putting the shelf back in the airbox so I could see if it ran better. It definitely didn't run any better so that makes me think it's rich... The thing is a complete dog and barely runs at part throttle.

I would open a PM dialog with Don (mrviper700) and listen to what he tells you very carefully. I think the rest of us have you going in circles. It is always hard to diagnose a sled without actually seeing it, but if anyone can do it Don can. Not that the others don't have good input, but I think you need a single person to help you work through this.
There are many triple piped redtop 700's that run really well.

Well I figured I'd give you guys an update on my pipes. It's fixed
It was those 52.5 pilots. It needed 50's all the way across. mrviper700 suggested I change them all to the 50's and it runs good now. He also told me to change my needles too but I haven't gotten a chance to do that yet. I hope we get some more snow soon. I feel like going to the U.P. so I can ride the thing.
But anyway, thanks for all the help with it.

Note: I have searched and have not found repair kit for Yamaha fuel-pump

I haven't posted on this due to poor memory on my part. I have rebuilt them in the past so I know there is a kit for them, I just can't remember where I got.Reimond said:Note: I have searched and have not found repair kit for Yamaha fuel-pump
I believe that the pump on that sled is one of the Taiyo Giken pumps. If you look at the pump there is another name on it that is better known. I just can't think of it right now. It is not Mikuni. If you do a search on the net you may be able to find it, I think that is probably what I did.
Having the correct torque on the screws is very important to proper operation. You can test the pump out easily to see if it needs attention.
Ok, I only searched from yamaha.

Yeah! I wanted to reply to that as well. My Buddy has an '01 srx, 700, triple, triple. It runs flawlessly! It even gets better mileage than my toy!
