Does this look right?? I just went through my sled tonight, because last time I was out riding on the river I almost got beat on the top end by a vmax 600 xt, that I know is stock. I topped out at 94 mph on the speedo and my buddy made me look silly going by me at 120 with his apex. Now I know that I can not contend with an apex, but a 600 xt scares me. So I looked at my track play about (1 inch) on a (1.25 ripsaw) and I went from my 22-39 tooth gears to 23-39 in order to get back some speed. I know that my track is not rubbing, I took out all the stud protectors. I also just got done getting my suspension to work for my body weight (which is 150 pounds. The other rider was about 220pounds on the xt). I then cleaned my clutches and I have a bender 51-45 helix and weights that came on a sxr, I don't know that rivets are in them but, I know it has a bender red spring in the primary and the secondary has a green spring rapped at 80. I know the clutch is running right ( rpm it jumps right to 8200-8300 and stays right there until I top out at about 8400 rpm). So that brings me to my power valves. I cleaned them making them look like brand new
. And I adjusted them with the help from the old forums here and the service book. Using 2-2.5mm allen wrenches and I found that they could be a little out of adjustment but I am not quite sure because I can't take it out to test until Saturday. I could feel them open up before, when I reached about 7000-7300 rpm. Can anybody think of any thing that is holding me back? I kinda think that it is my helix, but i don't want to have to re-clutch a sled that has a clutch that was bought for it. I have not checked my compression but i just rebuilt the motor with all new pistons and rings last year and it only has about 1800 miles on it. And it runs the same now as it did the first day I rebuilt it. Maybe thats all my little 600 has. I know by putting my gear back to a 23-39, I will be able to run about 100. I am kinda disappointed
If anyone has any ideas I would love to hear some suggestions!!!!!!!!!!!
