Water Temp and Oil warning lights.

I have a 2001 SXR 600 and was wondering if anyone could tell me if the water temp light and or the low oil light is suppose to flash at start up to show that the system's are working properly. Mine at this point do not. My old 1994 vmax use to. Thanks for your replys!
 
Well mine don't! All the bulbs are good and I jumped the wire in the plug while it was running and the water temp light came on, so it looks like the high temp system is working as long as the sensor itself is not bad, anybody have any suggestion's? Thanks for your replys.

I have a 2001 SXR600 and I don't believe mine flash three times?????

I have an electronic copy of the owners manual and it says NOTHING about the lights flashing on startup. I'm thinking it was a 2002 thing.

I can email you the manual if you want?

my 700 doesnt either! im worryed it should i know that for a fact, what did you do?
 
I just picked a SXR 01. The manual was in great shape.
"Light Bulb check:
Light flashes three times, then goes off."

Coolant temperature warning light
After the engine starts, this light flashes three times to check the bulb, and then goes off if there are no problems. (See page 5-5 for warning light flash pattern number 0.)
If it does not flash, have a Yamaha dealer inspect the electrical circuit.

Above is word for word from the Manual.

only the 2001 700 does, alright to i have narrowed it down. i went to my sled i know works. and jumped the temp connector. the light came on, so i proceded to do the same to the problemed sled. the light didnt come on. so i took the bulb out and it tested okay. so now i get the fun of tracing wiering down. f me right :o| :o| :o| :o|

Blue, the sxr600 upgraded to dual bulb with diagnostics in 02, the sxr 700 went to dual bulb with diagnostics in 01. Sleds with the single bulb,older igniton will not flash as they do not have diagnostics in CDI.

Roudy, is your "problem sled" an 01 as well? Seems you had sxr's,an 00 and 01? 01 should flash 00 should not.

yes thats correct, i do. problemed sled is an 01, i know the 00 wont flash. i will trace grounds and see if i have voltage and a solid ground at the temp sensor tommarow. if its good ill look at the green and red wire and see if that has a solid connection at the dash. and yes i have confermed the bulb is good.
