Today, we had terrible conditions........horrible. It was way above zero today, and damn mushy. I did a roll-on pass for 1000', and was running 139. I then decided to run 1320, with a slight roll-on, and ran 141. 1500'....142.7 mph. The sled is falling off on rpm HUGE. It pulls like a bear to 135, then I start to lose rpm. I changed a bit of clutching, which should have atleast held rpm, and ran into the same issue. I tried a few other things....same issue. Just as I was leaving for the night, I pulled off the secondary and noticed the clutch was opening up right into a bolt that is slighly protruding in the bulkhead that I had installed to hold one of my upper torque arms. The screws that hold the windage plate on are all flat, and the bolt for the torque arm is worn quite a bit. Basically, I believe it was shifting out into that bolt, and stopping the shift with some major friction, and the primary was still trying to shift, resulting in a steady fall of rpm. I'm surprised I wasn't breaking belts. I'll be doing some adjusting tomorrow, and hopefully that's all it is that is restricting me.
Also, the trail sled was down 6 mph due to conditions in the morning, and down 9 mph in the afternoon from the previous weekend. The weather is getting cold tonight (-10 celcius), and we have a high of -5 celcius tomorrow, so the track will be good and hard. Hopefully we get some decent speeds.
