SRX 1108 Race Sled Buildup

Good point toydoc. I watch Rich Daileys asphalt sled do that at Esta one year. Hit a bump at the end and crashed at 145 mph. Lucky he did'nt get hurt too bad.
 
Yes, they are very close to the ground as it sits now. That is a very good point, and I will have to bring it up a bit to give it some more room. At events, we do run on shaved ice, but in testing, we just run on plowed ice, and could run into an issue there. Thanks for pointing that out.
 
Were can a guy get one of those jackshaft tunnel/bearing retainer/mount thingys?Looks like a belt exploded at one time i see as well.

Yep, a belt did explode bad at one time. Are you referring to the piece that is sitting on my jackshaft? That piece comes with the Crankshop dropped and rolled chaincase. They do not make them anymore with the magnesium cover like mine, they are only available with an aluminum cover now, for $468 US.

Thanks. I've been slacking off a bit. I was gone deer hunting all last week, and have been spending more time getting the trail sled up and running, although it is 95% done now. All I have left is to throw in the wiring, put the motor back together, and slap it in there. Everything else is done.
 
Trail sled

Well, I haven't done much to the Prostocker because lately I've been working on the bone stock trail sled.

The chassis is ready to go, except for the fuel pump and lines, and a bit of wiring, but that's a small matter on a big ship. I should have it running by the end of the week, or early next week.

Damn this thing sits HIGH! LOL. Atleast you can now see the billet wheels better in the rear skid.

Yes guys, I know it's dirty. I'm getting to that....

Trail sled

Oops........EMPTY! No motor yet!

The crank cases aren't quite done yet for the motor, but I should have them on the weekend if all goes well. Then, just a couple of hours to slap it together, and it'll be breathing some serious bone stock fire! :)

Argh....... I went to throw the top end back together on the 1136cc motor today, and they sent me the wrong pistons. These are the same bore, but are slightly taller above the wrist pin. It's a damn good thing I noticed. That would have been nasty. It would have cut my squish down to about 10 thou, by a rough calc. Guess I'll be ordering 3 more pistons again tomorrow.

Now that sucks! .010" could make a HUGE mess if you run a very tight squish already, which I assume you do lol!
 
Really? How much? Curious, If you don't want to share that's fine. 3 weeks??? Where are you getting them?
 
I am not sure where Sudbury Cycle and Marine are getting the pistons. It might be from D&L Performance out of Quebec.

Squish.....I'll tell you this........I am starting with 60 thou in the trail sled this year. :)


I just finished the trail sled tonight.....well....almost. I ordered 3 new powervalve cables, which won't be in until Monday, so I wasn't able to throw them on tonight. Other than that is it finished. I will pull the cord on Monday.

For some reason it doesn't seem like you're going to stay at .060" for a while, lol.

What gear ratio are you running in the Speed runner?
 
I have seen some issues from big bore motors with what I thought was safe .060 trail squish. A trail 700cc bore is good with .060 squish. Bump the cc to 1100, 1200+ and .060 squish is now race fuel spec motor. If you add bore then squish can be a big issue. Sometimes what you think is safe for your fuel may not be.
 
The prostocker runs big gearing. I gear it for about 5% overdrive.......this year I will be somewhere around 1.6, but that is also with 11 tooth drivers, at 9300 rpm.

That's some serious theoretical MPH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! 150mph group here we come!

That's nearly 160MPH with 2.52 track pitch.

The sled is going to only weigh about 400 lbs, at most, with 270hp, and I am running a carpet track in 2000'. 150's will be easy.
