First of all i will apoligize up front for asking this question, i have looked and have been unable to find any info on this so here goes -------------------
My 2002 srx has been flashing the DCS light every time i snap the throttle and its getting to be a real pain in the a##. of course when it happens you can forget goin any faster. it just dies. it runs perfectly when throttle is feathered and i am running on groomed trail around 80-100kms/hr, but it will coem on every time i accelerate hard. I changed my plugs, thinking it may have been one breaking down with heat (it has that sensation like a dead plug) well it wasent that. i put penzoil octane booster in my gas to bring up the octane counts, and that didnt help at all. my plugs are burning great. i physically looked at the tops of all 3 pistons with a light at top dead center and the pistons look like new... my srx has 5500 kms on it. my dealer jetted it 2 sizes ( i think ) oversize to eliminate the light, but still doing it. another question is how sensetive is the knock sensor?, will it pick up any noise in the engine compartment? i am at a lost here with this, i do not know what to look for, i need all the help i can get. i have to turn people down when they ask me to race!!! i am driving a SRX , i wanna race, but i cant... could it be a powervalve problem? i have noticed that i am hearing the servo at low speeds when i snap the throttle, this is probably normal, but i am noticing everythin now i guess looking for the cause. sorry to be rambling guys but i wanna get all the infor in here that i can so someone can give me some useful information. thanks eveyone for reading my thread, please help....
sincerely,

I jetted up 2 sizes on mine to.Once in a while if I really pin it hard, light will come on,and I back off.I know what you mean if you want to race someone and this happens.Make sure your Power Valves in in perfect clean condition and adjusted.I may change my pilot jets to to see if anything changes next season.Maybe try opening up your fuel screws a little bit more.Mine is at 1.5 turns open.Make sure your fuel is #1 or try a different supplier.

you can hear the servo the motor should only operate a 900 rpms way below idle or at i believe 6700 find it hard to believe you hear the servo motor running. give us some more info like # of flashes.

do a test, drop rpm's to900 or less and see if the servo works. If it doesn't work, then your power valves are not moving either. This may cause light to come on.

it will flash constantly if i keep the trottle pinned. i just let it go and light stops flashing. it may be a powervalve problem...i am hopeing.

YOU MAY HAVE MORE THAN THE NORMAL DCS ISSUE HERE, BUT JUST TRY FOR BALLS SOME RACE GAS. I MEAN 110. JUST A TEST HERE. 3:16 (yammie tony)

Have you carbs been clean and set to specs? Personally, when i say "set to specs" i think you should set them up to 2001 srx specs or you will be seeing that light a lot. The 2000 and 2002 jetting is way too lean and will kick that light off a lot. Go with the '01 setup and make sure everythign is clean and kosher in there. Then do as tony said and run some race gas because of the high octane and see if the light stays off.

whats the best way to jet, 2001 factory specs? thanks boys.
The best way to jet for the dcs is to follow the service book. I have 150 and 2x 148 jets in mine, lowest altitude and good to -18. Find your "square" in the jetting chart and jet accordingly. I agree with yammiman, ALOT of things will activate the dcs. I have HC's but I had the "wrong" helix, and the thing would go off. As I clutch, the dcs will come on with some set ups, and not come on with other. How ever, If you want to test the function of the dcs, test in a temp that isn't close to your jetting edge. With a safety margin of 13c, I could hold the throttle to the bar all day long without it going off. Please do not hesitate to ask more questions! I am in the same boat and will try to answer as good as I can.

I agree set it up to '01 specs and you should be good to go,after you do that check your P/V's clean and adjust..
stock specs are here,look up a 2001 srx;

MMMMMMMMMMMNNNNN... Thanks norwegian? i am wondering, saturday my brake pads were worn out, and as a result i was getting a very high pitched squeal, scrape. but not to the metal to do damage to my rotor. coule this cause the DCS light to activate. maybe the knock sensor is picking up the noise. also i have one or two exaust springs that are slightly lookse and at times rattle, couls the noise from that cause my problems. and by the way. where can i find that jetting chart?
thanks again

No problem....
Now i'm not totally sure on the srx how the DCS picks up det. but on a car
the knock sensor "hears" the pinging and retards timing so on a car a loud
exhaust or something banging around could cause the comp. to retard timing, maybe Don will clarify on this..

Yeah I would NOT rule out the possibillity that loose exhaust springs will cause the DCS to activate, because it is very sensitive and reacts to almost ANY abnormalties in/with the sled. Also, I need to know your altitude and your clutch/gearing set up.
I tried 8dn00's with a www spring and a 47/42 helix, that would cause the dcs to come on. With hc's with 4,6 in heel (washers are ground), 3.3 and 3.3 and a 50/36 helix however, the dcs would not come on. Same temps.

I GOT TO TELL YOU GUYS AND HEY ANYTHING POSSIBLE, NO WAY IS YOUR CLUTCHING BE OFF AND THE WRONG HELIX GONNA SET OF THE DCS. DUDE, TWO TINGS, EITHER INCREASE JET SIZE UNTIL IT STAYS OFF OR RUN RACE GAS. NOW REMEBER BOTH OF THESE SRE TESTS, YOU THAN CAN CUT BACK. !! 3:16 (yammie tony)

LOOSE EXHAUST SPRINGS !!!!! WAIT !! THATS A FARR REACH, SORRY. !! VERY SIMPLE CURE LIKE I POSTED, AS LONG AS THERE IS NO OTHER ISSUE. JUST INCRESE JET SIZE. 3:16 (yammie tony)
You start with the jetting, if it's not that you have to look at the other things, because jetting does NOT always stop the dcs from blinking. Not everyone is running on race gas either!

Its extremely funny that my DCS after having no problems whatsoever with it started acting up around the exact same number of km's... Really weird. But definately to correct the problem just jet up a few sizes. My sled was doing exactly what yours was and i jetted up and now theres no DCS light at all. 2001 specs should get ya really close.
Good luck
