SRX hp???


Does anybody have pictures of the SRX throughout the years that you're talking about? I have the 40th Anniversary book form Yamaha, I have a lot of pictures downloaded from the internet, but it would be nice to see a 77-78-79-80 all side by side.
 
I will try to get some pics and video of the local 77 SRX for you guys at the local drags on Feb.9&10. It is rumored to have 127hp, and I believe it. Nothing can beat this thing. There is a pic of it on Hewtec Ignition web page. All that I know about it is that it runs their ignition, has a john deere spitfire rear skid, was ported and such by his uncle locally here and it hurts your ears when it goes by. It is the orange "mongoose" up here in Saskatchewan. There are rumblings that a guy is bringing a 78 Ski-doo super mod this year that has beat it in the past, so we'll see. This thing is just retarded how fast it is!!!
 
There's a guy in Albany NY who has four SRX-440's for sale on E-Bay.
A 1978, 1979, 1980, and a 1981.
I was hoping that he had a 98 HP 1977, but I guess not.
What would be your second choice between a 78,79,80, and 81?

What ever style you like best. The 80 is set up the same as a 78-79 with premix ,79 dash, and 79 aluminiun suspension. So they are pretty much the same sleds drive train wise. The difference is mostly cosmetic between these 3. You can't go wrong with any of them. The 81 is the only different beast.
 
78/79 SRX ARE THE SAME SLED EXCEPT COLOR AND 78 HAD A TAD MORE COMPRESSION. THE 8G9 HEADS AND THE 8JO HEADS ARE VERY SLIGHTLY DEFFERENT. ABOUT 1/2 cc SMALLER ON THE 8G9. ALSO 78 SRX USED SMALL BUMPER LIKE 77 AND HAD CLEAR WINDSHIELD, 79/80 HAD AWSOME SMOKED WINDSHIELD THAT ARE NEXT TO INPOSSIBLE TO FIND, BUMPER ON 79/80 WERE FULL LIKE EXCITER. THE 1980 SRX IS AWSOME LOOKING WITH THE BLACK AND GOLD. HEADS WERE SAME AS 79, BUT OF CORSE FIRST YEAR FOR OIL INJECTION AND BUTTERFLY CARBS. ALSO 80 HAD DEFFERENT SKID FRAME. ALL THREE YEARS USED SAME CYLINDERS. IF YOU EVER TRY AND INSTALL 8G9 HEADS FROM A 78 SRX ON A 79 OR 80 THEY WON,T FIT. MANY 78 SRX,s STILL USED SMALL ENGINES STUDS AND WOULD NEED TO BE DRILLED OUT TO FIT LARGER STUDS THAT CAME ON 79. 3:16 (yammie tony)
