Viper Hard start 3+ pulls - Help

I have a 03 Viper, stock except 53/43 helix at 60 wrap, clean powervalves last year, run Amsoil and it gets 14 mpg. The sled overall runs great, lots of tourque. The plugs are NGK stock plugsBr9es. They are always Black and rich looking, not oily. Is it to rich?

The sled start 3 pulls plus, somtimes more. What can I look at or adjust to get it down to 1 pull. I do the choke to start then shut it off and it tries to start. What can I do? Thanks for all the information.
 
expertviper - no I have not started the sled since storage. This is normal startup in the winter. Any suggestions?? Anyone...Bueler...Anyone?
 
check the freeplay in the choke cable, it sounds like it needs to be tightend up slightly, when its adjusted right you should be able to just barely move the lever in and out(not flipping the lever as to use it) this indicates a slight bit of slack in the cable, this way the plungers will seat and not make the sled run rich. Check also that the plungers return all the way into the carbs when you release the lever, you shouldnt be able to push them back in more. check these things and repost results.
 
When the sled is cold it starts in 3 + pulls but when it is hot it may take more??? I will check the choke cable and post picts this weekend.
 
Three pull start?

Mine is stock, the normal three pull cold start up since adjusting the choke most often two! (like mrviper700 said)...when warm, I crack open my throttle abit and she fires right up every time...for some reason or another this is how mine comes to life as well as the other four viper I ride with...02, 03 & 04s...they like a little throttle when warm...just to share info, not sure if this is proper or not but I can live with it...

Mine too, you'd be hard pressed to get it started warm without a little throttle,first pull though
 
three pulls

its the norm no matter what in the cold its 90% three pulls but once its warm it should start in half a pull most of the time and for sure two pulls
 
My SRX always takes 3+ pulls after it sits for a week or so in the winter. Once it's warm though, a slight 1/3 pull and it fires right up every time! No need to touch the throttle.
 
My 03 Viper (2000kms) takes 3 pulls from cold, and always fires up on the first half pull once warm. My old Phazer needed a slight squeeze on the throttle after warm. It seems like most Yami's need this. Nothing wrong with that.
 
3 pulls i wish when i had mine running last week it was atleast 10 but i havent serviced it yet for the winter plan on doing the top end when i do.
 
Mine has always taken 3 or 4 pulls on a cold day to get going and when its warm it sometimes will go without the throttle but sometimes i need to give it a little touch of throttle to get going, my buddies 700 vmax is the same thing
 
yep 2-3 pulls for me first pull i dont even try i just pull slowly.

when warm majority of the time i need a little throttle my old vmax was the same, but my buddys srx starts without throtle when warm.
 
My Viper S starts in 3-4 pulls cold. When warm it needs a little throttle and starts on the first pull. I'v noticed it starts easyer if i let it idle down before i shut it off. If i don't it takes 3 pulls warm even with a little throttle.
 
Man when its real cold I pull 3-4x's slowly before I even give a real hard pull, the motor is just that froze up.

If it starts after 3 pulls consistantly, I'd say your doing ok
