I DO NOT ever BASH amsoil,,,, I' just told you why I DO NOT purchase it and WHY I do not use it!!!! I use KLOTZ because I LOVE it and I ALSO LOVE the way it smells!!!!!.. I HAVE NO PROBLEM with the product,,, just the people who sell it!!!!
I usually DONT TRUST LIARS!!!!! And I usually DONT BELIEVE LIARS!!!! I feel that IF YOU HAVE TO LIE to people to get them to purchase your product,,, you (A) either don't believe enough in your product to stand behind it,, or (B) you're just a BAD con artist!!!! There was a guy selling ENERGY RELEASE at the snow show a few years ago and I DIDN'T SEE HIM anymore OR HIS PRODUCT at the snow show (milwaukee)... NOW 100 out of 100 people who had ANY EDUCATION on metalurgy would tell you that ER is ABSOLUTELY FANTASTIC for a sled.... DID IT GO OVER???????? NOT IN THE SNOWMOBILE WORLD!!! WHY?????? because people are apparently STUCK on the old ways of doing things and they dont believe the RIGHT THING TO DO!!!!!! You can lead them to water,,, but they will DIE OF THIRST!!!!! I cant say if it's just the sledders,,,but,,,, they sure do buy a LOT OF YAMALUBE!!!!!!! see my point?????
I dont think i have EVER BOUGHT a bottle of YAMALUBE IN MY LIFE!!!!! I've never shot HEROIN either!!! AM I MISSING SOMETHING?????

i actually used the energy release on all my bearings including crank after rebuild, you can really feel the difference in the bearings just holding them in your hands after using the er.

Thanks again to those that posted here. I got my top end done by myself with the only assistance due to lack of tools (and what I had to read from here). I think I read too much about hones and couldn't decide the best way to go. So rather than buy a hone I took my cylinders to the dealer and had them hone them. Didn't even ask what kind of hone they would use. Didn't want to think about it.
I just got done running the first heat cycle of the new top end. I think it sounds different now. Could just be the excitement and the heavy snow that started falling shortly after I started it. But it sounded really good. I think it has a bit of a stumble or lag coming off idle on the first partial snap of the throttle. When the RPMs are up tho the response is very good. I hope that was what was meant by varying the throttle positions while running up to temp.
I found re-ringing easy enough that as soon as I get the Viper where I feel it is reliable I will be pulling the VMax in for the same treatment. When I do the VMax I will have to make a decision about what hone to buy and then learn how to use it.

Daman, no joke you need to get your hands on some of this stuff to try, it is really good. when i had my rear skid out i treated all the bearings with the ER and when they are done you can really feel how much better the bearings run and how much smoother the bearings actually feel.

What do you do, rinse the bearings with it, let it dry out then repack?
Here's a post I found regarding this stuff while searching it. I am not saying this info is correct or has any validity, just thought I would pass it on.
Energy Release hit the snowmobile market back in 1995. It was marketed as the great "do all" additive. Guys were adding it to chaincases, oil injection systems, and even baking roller bearings in their wive's ovens with the stuff. Apparently it's a heat activated additive that's supposed to place a protective coating on the metal. There was an experiment conducted where it was added to the oil injection tank of a performance snowmobile. The sled was run for several hundred miles and tested on a dyno. The before and after results showed that the motor LOST power after using ER. It wasn't until the motor was disassembled and the cylinders re-honed and new rings installed that it regained the lost power. Apparently the ER did place some kind of coating on the metals surface because blow-by was determined to be the cause of the power loss.
Now with that said, here's my experiance. I used it in the chaincase of one of my sleds during the winter of "96-"97. Prior to adding ER, the magnetic dip stick in the chaincase would be completely covered with metel whiskers after 1000 miles. After adding the ER, the metal whiskers vanished completely. I also shot the chaincase with a infrared temp sensor. The case temp dropped 40 degrees while being used in severe, deep snow conditions. I've been using it ever since and never had a case failure. Still, the ST hasn't had any history of rear end failures. I'm comfortable using Mobil 1 by itself with no additives.
