What oil(s) are everybody using? I currently have a full tank of Yamalube in my viper, but am thinking of switching over to Amsoil Intercepter for better powervalve performance. Also, I think the synthetic oil will be better at protecting the engine, expecially since my engine will be "higher strung" with the Hauck Venom Kit. A couple of my friends hate amsoil and said that I will go through crank bearings. I don't believe them. They keep telling me to stick with Yamalube. What do you all think?

I think your friends are not all that up to speed on good synthetics, while Yamalube is a good oil, Quality Brand name synthetics such as Amsoil Interceptor and a few others are far superior in every aspect.

If you choose Amsoil, PM sleddheadd here on TY, he is a site sponsor and a heck of a good guy.

I have run Redline for the last 3 years. Power valves seem to stay cleaner than Yamalube. Thinking of going to Amsoil or Blue Marble this year

Here we go again !! Use an oil that you can afford. They all lubricate, they all smell and none of them have the special " sprinkle dust " that makes them the best. Look for many posts by nosboy, he will lay it out for you !

My two top choices are Interceptor and Klotz. Klotz stinks good too.

That's something I've been wondering about. Does the amsoil have that bad-*** synthetic smell to it?

using amsoil (or ANY SYNTHETIC oil) will contribute to crank bearing failure because SYNTHETIC lubricants do NOT HAVE the viscosity and PROLONGED"attachment" characteristics that FOGGING OIL OR AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION oil does ( EVEN YAMALUBE works better) (OW,,that hurts!!!) Synthetic lubricants do NOT hold up well to acidics created by the NORMAL COMBUSTION PROCESS..... REMEMBER BOYS AND GIRLS,,,,, WATER is a byproduct of COMBUSTION!!!!!! USE SYNTHETIC OIL,,,,,FOG YOUR MOTOR WITH FOGGING OIL OR ATF and you will NEVER have to remove your powervalves and your crank bearings will last a LIFETIME!!!!!

I love KLOTZ.. I REFUSE to use amsoil ,and I LOVE KLOTZ!!!!! Gary Oles nosboy

Maybe I didn't explain correctly.. The NOT FOGGING your sled and letting it sit for 6 months DESTROY your Crank bearings because SYNTHETIC (oil) will NOT protect them from rusting as good as CONVENTIONAL oil, fogging oil OR AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION FLUID will!!! its the SITTING for 6 months that destroys the bearings WITHOUT FOGGING!!!!! The synthetic oil DOES contribute to it!!!!

If you would like me to explain it in as DEEP AS YOU WANT theory,, I will.... 312-617-0303 Gary Oles nosboy

I said it.... YAMALUBE works better ( IN THIS INSTANCE) THAT HURTS!!!!

WTF are you talking about? Their both synthetics. So what make Klotz any different? :dunno:

This is a reply you posted nosboy:
REAL GOOD POST ,, DON!!!!!! I could reiterate,,,,but,,,, LETS leave it alone!!! Personally, i rering after 3000 miles and I use synthetic (klotz)!!! My stuff looks pretty good when I take it apart!!! A VERY FAMOUS gearhead told me that cleanliness= horsepower, so I try and keep that up front!!!!

I have only seen a few of your posts and already you are irritating. To be quite frank, I think you talk like a man with a paper a$$.

Of course thats just my opinion. I'm done. No more on the subject.

I ran Yammylube for the first 800 km on my current sled then switched to Klotz. Currently 14000+ km on the sled and it runs better than ever. I have never bothered to fog sled. I hold oil pump wide open for a couple of minutes while idling, then store it. I know what you mean as synthetic do not "coat" parts as well, IMO the main issue with rusted bearings is storage in non ventilated/damp area's. :2strokes:

FLEETMAN please QUOTE the whole sentence And you will know what I am talking about. The quote about using KLOTZ is MY PREFERENCE!!!! I DONT use amsoil because of their marketing stragedy and their dealer base!!! NOT because amsoil is inferior,,, QUITE the contrary!! SYNTHETIC lubricants do not have the longevity on the part "COATING" the part like conventional oils or FOGGING oil does.. PLEASE UNDERSTAND and read the whole sentence and the whole paragraph!!!! maybe I didnt explain enough?????
