well i saw a cylinder on ebay for 200$ better than 500
can you answer my questioN? does the 99 srx cylinder fits the 2001?

lol definately not cheap stuff, i have a bag from yamaha, a dam bag and it cost over $700 and thats just gaskets, rings, seals and such, i wouldnt want to imagine what a head, piston and cylinder would cost from them, you might be able to pick up a cylinder and other parts cheap off either this website or maybe ebay but you would have to be careful off of ebay
You could keep a watch on ebay as usually there are heads and cylinders on there. There's one for a 99' on there now but I think it will have different porting than your's.

post pics, and you mise as well remove the (4) 14mm headed nuts holding the cylinder on and remove the cylinder, as to check the conn. rod while your there, it needs to come off to replace the piston and cylinder anyways. post pics so we can see whats going on.

Mrviper, yes, i'm waiting to take some pic but we have a snowstorm here
and the sled is outside under a cover
i need to wait until tomorrow
but, if you check in the tech section in totallymaha, the section were you can see picture of bad piston, mine look exactly like the "smashed debris"
