How many washers is everybody putting in their secondary to tighten up the belt and get that .125 inch overlap on top? I dont remember ever having to put in more than 2 washers for drag racing.

I currently have added 2 washers and it is now just flush with the top. The belt is not yet squeeling.

Before I added the 2 washers, my belt deflection was very sloppy. The belt only has afew hundred miles on it.

Check your centre to centre or you have a very long belt

I agree, your cc sounds off some tom..two washers in there that belt should be pretty tight and riding high..

Center to Center was all done by mrviper 700 miles ago when the sled was at his shop.

But I wish I had a center to center tool

700 miles ago..should be good yea.

but something is not right, with two washers thats allowing that secondary
to squeeze in clamp on the belt thus tight'en it, all stock secondary?

when ever i removed one it was eather just right or too tight..

was it like that when you got it back from mrv? or it got loose over time?

I dont remember if it was pretty sloppy or not when I bought the sled. I do remember him checking the center to center right in front of me at his shop.

I have a RX-1 51/43 yamaha helix in there.

The belt wear limit is 32.5MM so I will check that today.

I am thinking if the belt is worn, It will want to ride lower in the secondary. I will post my measurements later. Where can I get a clutch offset center to center tools at a good price? Only tool I have for that is a clutch service tool to easily get at the weights and rollers.

I can just barely feel the edge of the belt over my secondary. I will go get another set of washers at ace hardware in a few.

I will be finishing up with my new carbides and putting the bergstrom shim kit in the saddle. I also have to correct the camber on 1 side yet.

Another thing that I realized is that back when I did the grass drags, The Yamaha OEM belt I was using was brand new with 0 miles on it. In fact I would buy a new belt every weekend so this might be why I need more washers.

Can anybody tell me what the width in MM is on a brand new OEM 8DN SRX belt?

Then the belt I have on is practically brand new.

If the center to center was off, I think it would have been alot more worn out even just after 700 miles.

you could have 5 washers to make it right as theres differnt thickness washers, you never mentioned what thickness your using, so the number you install is not important. The only way your gonna change the center to center is if you loosened up the motor mount bolts!
