modded SRX speeds....PORTED engines

800, GREAT POST ON SPEED DEVISES. YOUR VERY KNOWLEDGEABLE ON THIS. I STILL WILL TAKE A GPS TO MEASURE '' MAX '' SPEED ACCURCEY. I AGREE ON TIMERS, BUT MY POINT WAS GPS,s I HAVE SEEN ON TAR SLEDS WERE EXACT TO THE TIMERS SPEED AND BEYOND. TO STATE '' WE KNOW GPS ARE NOT AS ACCURATE AS A RADER GUN WAS PRETTY FUNNY ''. 3:16 (yammie tony)

23-38 IS A 1.65 RATIO. (stock on a 01 srx) 22-38 IS 1.73 RATIO. A TAD LESS MPH BUT A TAD BETTER ACCLERATION. SLIGHT DEFFERENCE. 3:16 (yammie tony)

800 told me that 22/38 is still too steep for a trail SRX and MRviper told me that I could even run a 23/37 if I do alot of wide open trail riding

hmm so would it be worth my while to switch to a 23/38 or whats the best gear combo?.... didnt realise my gearing wasnt stock, seems to pull well as it is.....

TOM , ROAST ALL DEPENDS. IF YA RIDE WHERE YOU CAN DO ALOT WOT RUNS, STICK WITH 23-38. IF YA RIDE ON TRAILS THAT REALLY DOSE NOT LET YA OPEN HER UP, GO WITH 22-38 OR 23/37. GUYS USE THAT CHART JMINOR POSTED ON HERE. ITS A GREAT TOOL. 3:16 (yammie tony)

Mr.Viper is a smart man..

Tom, when did I say that? I would and do run 23/38 on trail units. "Commonly" for average trail riding/riders, stock gearing is adequate.

However, a "smart man" wouldn't run stock gears, depending on track and traction, and if he wanted to be quick in the woods. When we cross country raced, on trails, through the woods, no one, geared up, hey but what do I know, I won...............................................

We were talking a few weeks ago.

You asked me what I had in the chain case last year. I said I did alot of topend hard pack trail riding with that 22/38 and you said it was a little steep. I changed it to what it should be. No biggie.

Maybe I did in one of our conversations, if we were talking about rippin through the woods, like you said, high speed trail riding, with traction. A good gear for trail racing was high 1.7's or low 1.8's. Gives you that killer 30 to 90 punch. This thread is on top speed gearing and yes, I would go taller.

Yea When I bought the sled, all the tunnel and heat protection was torn off by the previous owner prior to him installing the rip saw. I want to keep it strictly on the lake or trail so when we talked thats why I changed the gears back to stock. Last SRX I got a stick shoved through the black rubber boot up front.

I have a Mountan Apex if I desire to go off the trail boon docking.

Bill, did you send out the socket to remove the top sprocket nut on the 4 strokes? I remember sending you my address and didnt know if you had shipped it out or have any idea how much cash I need to send you.
